Mamavation Monday

My daughter totally bailed on me!  She ran with me last Monday and then went to stay with her grandmother for the rest of the week.  Seriously, what a way to avoid exercise.  This mean I’m on my own again…

My eating habits were o.k., not great but not bad.  I had planned to work my way through the Live Longer Cookbook but I’m going to have to start next week.  Due to circumstances beyond my control, I wasn’t able to start my healthy cooking last week.  However, I have encouraged my remaining family to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.  With 5 out of 7 meals I make sure that we have salad, which everyone loves.  I’ve also started baking *healthier* sweets for the family ~ bread/rice pudding with tons of fruits like apples, apricots, cranberries, mango, plums and raisins.  In fact, the kids love the bread pudding so much that she’s requested it for her birthday instead of traditional cake.  For the record, the recipe is from the Live Longer Cookbook

I’m trying to get more water down.  I really don’t have a valid excuse considering my refrigerator has an ice and water maker.  For whatever reason, when I have bottled water I don’t have a problem but as soon as those bottles are gone so is my taste for water.  Yes, I am crazy.

My healthy commitments for this week are to work out for a minimum of 3 out of 7 days and to cook healthier meals.

Now for the stats:

Weight ~ 161.4  lbs     +1 lb
Bust ~  39.5 in
Waist ~ 34 in     -1 in
Hips ~  43 in

That is great to know that you are again interested in loosing your weight. But this time I shall advice you to follow your routine seriously. Inform us about your improvement after a week. Best of luck for your initiative. Bye.

I’m a little late on the replies, but that bread pudding recipe sounds amazing! Thanks for giving us the source!

Water is a challenge for me, too. Have you tried a timer? It’s annoying, but it’s working for me!

  • Daenel

Thank you all for the tips and the words of encouragement. I actually did pretty well with the water today. Yay! And I lost weight ~ can’t wait to report next week.

Daenel, we’re really close in size. I am 4 pounds more than you. So it will be good for me to try and catch up with you! And I am sooo looking up that bread pudding recipe. Have a great week (even if the daughter bailed!)

  • http://mandimindingmoney.com Mandi

What a bummer she bailed! Oh well, keep pushing yourself so when she does join you she’s impressed and proud!

For the water, have you looked for a cute stainless steel bottle? Every time I look, I am way overwhelmed by the options. I have a metallic pink one right now, but I’m in the market for something with a pattern. Any way to keep the water cool (no pun intended!) I’m all for!

Nice to read such a post from you after a long time.My mom also ensures that her family members have salad at least once in the entire week. She mostly makes it for dinner time as all the family members eat together at dinner time.Healthy eating is very important if one wants to stay fit. Please try and do it Daenel. Remember, if you eat healthy, then you’ll stay healthy :) .No substitute for that.

I like running by myself instead of with someone else. Yes, another person may hold you accountable, but I enjoy that alone time so much more.

  • Daenel

I didn’t put too much stock into her running with me, she’s 16 so I know they can be kinda flighty. But I did expect us to last longer than 1 run. LOL

Anyway, I’m still working it by myself. :-)

I will make another bread pudding and post the recipe this weekend so that you can see what it looks like. It tastes a bit like French Toast.

Honestly, I never relied on anyone when I worked out for that very reason. In the past, it was always my excuse to stop because they did. People are imperfect and you can’t depend on them, but you can force yourself to do something.

Just get back up. I hear ya! And focus on the food. 85% of weight loss is all nutrition. XXOO

    Workout buddy’s bailing really stinks!

    Best of luck this week.

Sounds like you have a plan. That is always a plus. I so know what you mean about the water in a bottle. Sometimes I will buy one then just keep washing it and refilling it. That is the easiest way to drink it. I have yet to find an eco friendly water bottle that I love… I buy the cheap ones then they taste funky!

Look forward to chatting with you!

I am the same way! For some reason, water seems to taste better from a bottle. Goes down easier too.

I have two water bottles that are always filled in the fridge. When I empty one I refill it as I get out the other. Also have you tried the new Crystal Light Fitness? It is naturally flavored with no artificial sweeteners. I am with Kim the Bread pudding sounds interesting…. can you post more about it?

Yeah you are crazy. How about refilling the cute coffee mug you had made with water through the day? Or get a bottle you really like. I want YOU to have a great week – exercise, eat well, rest, drink, repeat.

Thanks, ladies. I know we’ll get it together ~ she really enjoyed running/walking with me and I loved it because it gave us a chance to talk. But I’ll keep going even if she only participates sometimes.

I know the feeling when a family member bails on you. It’s really hard keeping on track when they’re going in a different direction. Hang in there girl!
