No problem sis! I used to trash it all and permanently delete it. I had an epiphany one night and realized I had tossed away a GREAT piece of dialogue. It's mostly trash, but sometimes, I find a line, a conversation, even a character name that is perfect for something else.

Omg, were we separated at birth? I do the same thing. I just let things flow (stream of consciousness) and when I'm finished I just check to see what I have. I do like your idea of going through the folder to see what can be reworked (I don't do that) but I'm gonna start. Thanks for the tip.

LOL Don, great minds and all that jazz, huh? It’s easier and much more natural for me to just write and edit later. I know some people like the creative process that comes from mind mapping (sort of like word association) but it just doesn’t work for me.

I've never tried it, but I don't think it would be for me. I'm more of a free flow kinda girl. I keep everything I write, even if it's garbage. I actually have a "garbage" folder on my desktop. Bad stuff goes in and from time I go through it. There are actually a few nuggets worthy of reworking in the mess.

I had never heard of mind mapping until I started reading, and as I came upon the link I was convinced to give it an attempt, until you spoke of it not being for you.

The fact that you and I both initially write with pen and pad proved to me that mind mapping wouldn't really be my cup of tea either.
