Makeup~Free Mondays

Makeup Free MondaysI love makeup.  Specifically, I love Bare Escentuals makeup because it gives me a flawless face with natural coverage.  And don’t get me started on the glosses (my fave is a Buxom called “Dani” ~ a purply pink)…  Moving on, ’cause this isn’t a post about Bare Escentuals, but if you’ve never given it a try, I’d recommend it.

This is, however, a post about being natural and celebrating “real beauty.”  Ideas I support whole~heartedly as the mother of 3 teenage girls (all of whom I’ve described as being “self~confident to a friggin’ fault”).  Anyway, last week, I came across a post on iVillage about Makeup~Free Mondays, a Real Beauty Movement started by Alexis Wolfer at The Beauty Bean.  The idea is to go makeup free (or as makeup free as you’re comfortable with) on Mondays to “make a difference in the way women around the world perceive their bodies, internalize beauty and feel about themselves.”

So beginning next Monday, 6 December, I will be participating in the Makeup~Free Monday Challenge.  This means I’ll be posting a picture of myself without my makeup and going about my day with a nekkid face.  Eep!  I’ll also post a tip for going makeup free each week.

You can join Makeup~Free Mondays on Facebook or follow them on Twitter.

Let me know if you’ll be joining the Makeup~Free Monday Challenge in the comments below.

Disclosure:  I didn’t receive any compensation for this post, I really do love Bare Escentuals but I also support the idea of women embracing their natural selves.

Awesome idea! And you’ll look gorgeous without make-up, I’m sure. There are too many airbrushed, botoxed, etc. people in the media and real life these days and natural IS beautiful. Not that I shun make-up, I just like the idea that it is something to enhance your beauty, not something to use as a mask to hide behind.

Alyna, I’m such a makeup girl. I love playing in the colors and experimenting (even though 9 times out of 10, I’ll stick to natural looks) but it’s just fun. I very rarely leave the house without at least foundation, blush and shadow. Botox and all that other stuff scares me. It’s poison, yo!

girl, I am Make-up Free Monday thru Sunday EVERY week! Ok, there are some exceptions… like presentations, meetings, social functions… But I am looking forward to your pics & posts

LOL And that’s why I heart you, Mylynka. And you’ve got those funky cool blue glasses which have inspired me to go with color the next time I get a new pair. :-)

I’m doing makeup free mondays too! The ONLY allowance I’m giving myself is a little brush of blush: just so I don’t look DEAD.

LOL Susan, I’m gonna go completely bare faced and see how that works. If I’m too uncomfortable or look completely EEK I may have to do some rethinking.

I mean, it’s winter now, and I haven’t been to the beach in months…..there is no glowy tone whatsoever. Gotta have just a little. But as for eyes, they’re bare every Monday! eeeeek is right….

        • http://livingoutsidethestacks.com Daenel

LOL They would have to start this challenge in the winter, right? Has anyone said anything to you about going bare? Do you feel different? Shy, freer, any difference?

You know, as much as I complain, it’s saving me time, it WILL save a bit of money, and girl, people have mentioned that I look just beautiful. Which does feel great!!

Ooh! This really IS a challenge! I want to, but it might be rough to work without makeup…. I think I’m gonna give it a try though! Yikes!

Lisa, this is hard for me too, I feel funny just running to the grocery store for milk and eggs without my “face” on. So going a whole day and posting pictures? Yikes!
