Ainslee, love your tips about breaking things into small pieces. I'm hoping that by writing things down I'll be a little more accountable (it kind of worked with the running ~ I ended up walking in a 5K last year). Hopefully, this year will be more successful (I want to actually run the 5K this time).

I never put much thought into New Year's resolutions, mainly because I would rather set goals within the year. I find that taking small steps every month, even every week, are much easier to attain than the looming resolutions one makes for an entire year. I do agree with the 'loose' resolutions you've made, though they are far from easy to achieve. Strengthening bonds with one's family as well as their god (and I say this so as not to offend any religion) is an excellent resolution for any year, and should be repeated every year. Perhaps you should try setting small goals, weekly or monthly, and see if they are easier for you to follow? And I'm speaking about things like weight loss, fitness regimens, dedicating more time to writing, taking more pictures, and spending quality time with loved ones. (Those are some of my short term goals, and things I strive to accomplish on weekly basis.) Treat every new month as a chance to make new goals, work more on the ones you failed to meet, and start fresh! Best of luck with all of your hopes and dreams for the next 12 months, Dani.
