Shoe Style Saturday

Shoe Style Saturday

Frankenstein Shoes.  Roach Killers.  Snow Crushers.  Butt Ugly Shoes.  These shoes have been called just about every name in the book, yet, they’ve remained in my closet for almost 13 years.  Whenever I feel insecure or unsure about something, these are my go~to shoes.  No, they’re not pretty.  They’re not even comfortable.  Yet, there’s something about them that makes me feel strong and confident when I slip them on my feet.  Maybe it’s the heaviness of the sole that remind me of my days in the Army.  Oh, you should have seen me then.  I was The Woman.  I oozed confidence.  Or maybe it’s the barely hanging on by a prayer strap that refuses to snap, no matter how much I tug.  Cancer, unemployment, returning to college as an adult student, it’s caused me to bend and sway but never to snap…  Yeah, they’re ugly but they’re the footwear equivalent of a wooby.

What brings you comfort when you’re feeling insecure?

i followed the invitation you left on artsy ants blog the other day and wanted to post my shoe style, but unfortunately the linky tool doesn’t seem to work right.
i never had very big and heavy shoes like this because i have stick legs and i look ridiculous in them. but i also have a lot of very old shoes i can’t part with so i can understand how you feel about your shoes. :)

Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate it.  Do you know what the problem with the linky is?  I did a test post and I think it’s working now.

I love shoes and will hang on to them until they’re falling apart.  Shoes can change your mood.

I’ve had a “clunky” pair of shoes like those that I practically lived in for the past 13-ish years! I’ve recently sent them on their way to shoe heaven, because they started falling apart a bit too much, but I wore the heck outta those things. Ahh, shoe memories!

I don’t know why, but those clunky shoes are such a security item for me.  That they lasted for 13 years is a true testament to their power and durability.  See, shoe woobies.  LOL

I haven’t decided which shoes to feature, and I can’t figure out what I do when I’m feeling insecure.  Call this indecisive Saturday for Ellie!  Perhaps I should go back to bed…

LOL I hope the indecisiveness has cleared up.  I have days like that where I honestly don’t know what I want to do.  So, yep, when I can, I go back to bed.
