What I Wore Wednesday #9 and Real Momma, Real Style

Have you ever wondered what librarians do all day?  I can assure you, we do not read books…

What I Wore Wednesday #9 and Real Momma, Real Style

Crocheted Flowers and Pin/Scarf Set ~ Handmade by me

Classes have ended and the students are gone, so it’s time for us to rearrange the library.  That means moving furniture, shifting books, scraping up things that can’t be identified except in a CSI crime lab.  So that means sore muscles, tired bones and boring What I Wore Wednesday and Real Momma, Real Style pictures…  Hopefully, we’ll get back to the “clean” side of librarianship soon and I can start posting pretty pictures again.

Until then do me a favor and leave a comment telling me why you love your library.  Library budgets are being cut left and right, and if anyone knows the value of books, it’s us moms.

The crochet flowers will be for sale as either a scarf and pin set or individually.  The flowers can be worn as brooches or hair clips (they have alligator teeth clips attached to them).  The brooches/hair clips will be $12 each and the scarf and pin set will be $25 each.

Join me for Shoe Style Saturday this Saturday!

I’m a shoe girl big time but I also love clothes, handbags, jewelry and makeup but that’s another story. Anyway, I decided to create Shoe Style Saturday as a way to challenge myself to wear every pair of shoes that I own as well as to celebrate my love and yours for shoes. So, come on and show me your femme fatale flats, those sexy stilettos and pin~up peep toes, yes, even your racy runners. For more information, click here.

Daenel, do you have an etsy store or anything?  I’m looking for a new friend to feature for my Webby Wednesday and if you have an easy way for people to buy your goodies, maybe we could make something happen :)

Dweej, I’m honored!  I don’t have a store just yet.  What I am doing is sending out samples for honest opinions.  I’d be willing to giveaway a brooch/hair clip.

LOL  I’m always wearing skirts with socks (not sure what that’s all about but I don’t want to delve too deeply).

Love the tunic — and those Target boots!

And what’s *not* to love about libraries? As an avid reader and former library employee, I’d be lost without my library! We’re fortunate to have a local library with an incredible selections of DVDs and Wii games. We always have access to the latest books, very quickly.

My two kids (and I) especially love our children’s librarian, who collects our kids’ stuffed animals twice a year and takes the stuffed animals on vacation, posing them everywhere (the beach, the city, etc.), uploads all the photos to Facebook, makes a DVD slideshow for each kid and brings those stuffed animals back safe and sound… with lots of adventures and memories to share with our kids. She is nothing short of awesome and if I were forced to keep only one thing from our library (impossible, I know!), she would be it.

Omg, I love what your children’s librarian does ~ that is amazing and I know the kids love it.  That is one of the coolest things I’ve heard about in a long time.

Thank you.  I do hope you’ll remember to join up, it’ll be so much fun.

Boring??  I love your outfit ;)  Really digging the boots.  Now, I LOVE my local library for one simple reason….two kids, attention span for books lasting 2 days max.  New books every other day…no $ out of my pocket :)

    • http://livingoutsidethestacks.com DaenelT

Yes, yes, yes!  Buying books can get expensive and when you have little people with short attentions spans ~ whoa!

  • Angie

I feel your pain!  No one knows what us librarians (school and otherwise) really do! :)

    • http://livingoutsidethestacks.com DaenelT

      *fist bump*  :-)

Love your boots and socks with the skirt! My fave thing about our library? Their online website where I can download audiobooks for my mp3 player – for free!

    • http://livingoutsidethestacks.com DaenelT

It’s funny, not a lot of people know that libraries offer the audiobook download service, but once they find out they get so excited.  So glad you’re using it and enjoying it.

I love your cute outfit especially the denim jacket. So stylish!!! And I love your creations. You crochet too! We have a lot in common. Thanks for stopping by and for your very sweet comment! Happy Wednesday!

    • http://livingoutsidethestacks.com DaenelT

Between the shoes and the crocheting, you’re like my long lost sister.  LOL

Oh my goodness, how much do I love our library? I can’t get enough of books – any and every genre. My kids are the same. Without the library we’d be reading the same ones again and again, since our budget isn’t unlimited. And since books are one of my favorite gifts to give, I also love that our library hosts book sales at amazing deals!

    • http://livingoutsidethestacks.com DaenelT

Exactly!  That’s why libraries are vital to our communities, budgets are tight, people can’t afford to go out and buy every book/movie/CD they want nor should they have to when it’s available at the library.  And, yes, those book sales are amazing, aren’t they?

  • Mimi

I love the way my library smells, I love the mash up of colors from the spines of all the books and I absolutely love the sound of the plastic the books are wrapped in.

    • http://livingoutsidethestacks.com DaenelT

I think that’s one of my favorite parts too ~ the mash up of colors on the shelves.  It’s just soooo much fun.

Just one reason why I love my library?

    Can’t do it.

The cultures that collect there–the people.
The stereotypes of the employees (and remember I worked in one), there’s always one circ person who believes each book is hers!
The books.  That with a portion of my taxes alone, I can check out as many books I want every year.
Getting a hold notice, “Your book is waiting for you.”
Returning it and knowing, some one else can’t wait for this book…

    • http://livingoutsidethestacks.com DaenelT

LOL  I love when patrons come in all excited about a hold notice.  It’s like being there to see them open a Christmas gift.

      • Anonymous

        I am that geekily excited!

        • http://livingoutsidethestacks.com DaenelT

          LOL
