Things That Leave Me Scratchin’ My Head {Coffee Talk}

Coffee Talk1. First of all, if you live in the Southeast Missouri area take a minute and look at our dog, Squeekerz, he’s been missing since last week. You can view his picture here. If you’ve seen him, please contact me at Thank you so much!

2. Clint Eastwood was the mystery speaker at the Republican National Convention. sigh I love his movies. He plays the cantankerous guy with a heart of gold really well but seeing him last night was, well, kinda sad. I want him to always be Dirty Harry. I want him to always be that grizzled man’s man who makes women swoon. I don’t want him to be old.

3. So, uh, Snooki’s a mom now. I have no words. Actually, I do. I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she’s going to be a good mom and she’s going to give her son the love and discipline he needs.

What had you scratching your head this week?

Squeekerz {Missing Dog Alert}

This has been a very difficult week for my family and me. Last Friday morning, our beloved dog of 10 years, Squeekerz, decided to go for a walk without his leash or his humans. Those of you who are long time readers know that Squeekerz has become quite a fixture in my photography. He’s a first class photo bomber! And often likes to pose for pictures (this after spending many months getting over his fear of the camera sounds).

SqueekerzI’ve never been a big proponent of pet chipping, honestly, the thought of putting something inside my dog sort made me feel all Big Brotherish… But after this past week, I would tell anyone, if you love your pet, chip it. Make sure that your dog is licensed. Keep current photos. And never ever take it for granted that your dog will not run off.

Squeekers is a short haired Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix. His eyes range from dark brown to light brown almost hazel depending on his mood. He’s partial to bread and Girl Scout Cookies (short bread, thankyouverymuch). He was lost in Jackson, Missouri near HWY W around 7:30 AM. on Friday, 24 August. If you see him, please contact me at He’s missed terribly by his family.

SOAP: We Were Created in His Image {#B90Days}

Genesis 1:27 (NIV)

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Throughout the whole story of creation, God speaks things into existence, he says “Let there be light” and there is light (Genesis 1:14) and he tells the land to produce living creatures according to its kind (Genesis 1:24) but when it comes to man, he takes the time to form man out of the dust of the earth. But he doesn’t just throw together stuff to make man, he said “Let us make man after our own image” (Genesis 1:26), which means that we are walking, talking, flesh and bone representations of God.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and not liked what you see? Your hair’s too curly or your nose is too flat or your thighs have more jiggle than you want… You pick yourself a part, finding flaws at every turn… Have you ever stopped to think that you are dishonoring God when you tear yourself down?

He says that we were made in his image, Psalm 139:14 (NIV) says “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” If you believe even one portion of the Bible to be true, then you have to believe that you are wonderfully and fearfully made, so stop tearing yourself down.

When you feel yourself thinking negative thoughts, look at yourself in the mirror and know that you were created by the hand of God, in his image!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for creating me in your image. Thank you for the things about me that are unique, because these are the things that make me beautiful. And, Lord, as I go through my day and self doubt starts to creep in, help me to remember that I am your creation, beautifully, wonderfully and fearfully made. Amen.

Bible in 90 Days or #B90Days is a Bible reading plan hosted by Amy at Mom’s Toolbox. It provides an opportunity for a community of women to support each other as they read through the Bible in 90 days.

This session of #B90Days runs from 20 August thru 17 November and as a mentor (Group 34, holla) , my job will be to encourage readers through prayer, words of support on Twitter and via our accountability group. I’ll also be posting words of encouragement here on my blog, so stay tuned for those.

There’ll be weekly Twitter parties, using the hashtag #B90Days, so make sure you follow @MomsToolbox. You can also follow along and keep up with the daily reading plans by liking Mom’s Toolbox on Facebook.

Although this is a Bible reading plan and not a Bible study per se, Amy does recommend that participants use SOAP for guidance through the 90 day reading session as it helps with the understanding and application of the scriptures to our daily lives.

SOAP is an acrostic that stands for:
