Training for my #5Kfor40 {In the Gym}

Training for #5Kfor40 {Living Outside the Stacks}

We didn’t have any training on Monday because of the holiday, so I did some training on my own. I know it’s important to keep my body moving even when I’m not doing anything formal.

On Saturday, I did a timed one mile run in preparation for the official timed run on Wednesday. I had to do a test run to make sure that I can make it in less than 40 minutes and embarrass myself. Anyway, the hubs clocked me at just over 12 minutes and Noom clocked me at 16 minutes and 58 seconds. But I have a funny story to go along with my time…

I had just finished my second lap around the track when, all of a sudden, the girls went flying free. Yep, my bra came unzipped mid~run. LOL I had to stop running, duck into the truck and put the girls back in the harness. So the moral of the story is buy a sports bra that pulls on over the body and doesn’t have zippers or hooks. Anyway, I forgot to stop my timer while I, ummm, fixed things and that’s why we have different times. Lest you think I was just out there free falling, I did have on a t~shirt but it was still pretty obvious that I’d had a wardrobe malfunction.

Saturday and Sunday, I did about 40 minutes of treadmill walking at 4.0 to 4.5 speed and a 7.5% to 10% incline. I need to work on strengthening my calves and building endurance, I thought that might help. I also worked up quite the sweat and burned a little over 300 calories each time.

So do you have any nonzipping nonhooking sports bra recommendations?

Feel free to follow my training here on my blog and cheer me on as I RUN the Capaha Classic 5K on 13 July. You can watch my progress on Instagram and Twitter.

    It was pretty funny and embarrassing. I’m going to have to search out something with better control. LOL

    Not a wardrobe malfunction! Lol – I have that happen all the time at home, but mostly because I’m wearing the heck outta my nursing bras, and don’t want to invest in new ones the late in the game. For working out, I’ve always liked the bras that have little separate zones for the girls… not ones that just push them flat against your chest. Maybe something like this – http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0035WTMF4?ie=UTF8&camp=213733&creative=393177&creativeASIN=B0035WTMF4&linkCode=shr&tag=itkeegetbet-20&qid=1369941096&sr=8-4&keywords=running+bra

      Bras are sooooooo expensive and good ones are really hard to find. I think it’s a conspiracy. I will check out your suggestion….. Thank you.

    Just over 12 is a GREAT time! The wardrobe malfunction is hilarious :) !! As for Sports Bras, my rather large girls like the FILA Running High Impact on sale for $19.99. http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-967284/fila-sport-core-essential-runners-high-impact-performance-sports-bra.jsp
    Loving your running updates.

    Funny story. I hope you find a good sports bra soon. :-) That was good to work out anyway and stay consistent.

      Thank you, Mo. After I got things under control it went really well.
