Red Sleeveless Top Boyfriend Jeans and Gray Pumps {living outside the stacks}

Hi, how are you? I’m doing well. It’s been a long week and it’s only Wednesday. A few weeks ago, I became the part-time social media coordinator at my college and I’ve been doing a lot of traveling {you can see some of the photos that I took here, here, and here}. I’m not complaining because I’m happy to have the opportunity to do something I enjoy, but there’s also a lot to learn.

Doing social media and taking photos for my blog is very different from doing those same things for a business. I’ve also found that I have to get better at live tweeting and posting images in the moment. I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist and spend a lot of time making sure that images are lined up properly and working on captions {which I’ve discovered are really hard — I’m witty but in a sarcastic way, so not appropriate for a college account}. But I know it’s a learning…

Anyway, let me tell you about this outfit. We’ll start with the earrings and work our way down. Listen at me sounding all teacher-like. I guess my librarian is showing…

I think it’s fair to say that I’m addicted to Nickel & Suede Leather Earrings. I wear them just about every day. Their light weight and funky — I think they can go either rocker or boho, depending upon the color and the texture. These are the new Gray Bloom and they’re the perfect neutral.

The necklace is actually a lanyard. I know, right? At my previous place of employment, we had to wear ID badges, but I didn’t want to wear the nylon straps, so I went on the hunt for pretty lanyards and ended up writing about them. You can read that here. Depending on what kind you get, the lanyards can easily be converted into a necklace and back to an ID holder when needed.

This blouse. swoon I’m normally not a sleeveless girl, but isn’t this the cutest? I love the cherry red color. It’s just so vibrant and playful. I also like that the hem dips down a bit in the back, so this top can be worn with leggings without all your stuff showing.

I have to tell you a story about these jeans… So my daughters were teasing me {as they do} because of my serious love for flare leg jeans. They were like “Mom, at least get one pair of skinny jeans or slim legs.” I now have 4 pairs of boyfriend cut jeans. I. Love. This. Look. They look great with pumps, strappy sandals, or sneakers. Gosh, I can even wear them with ankle boots. So versatile. My girls were right. I’m glad they don’t read my blog, so they’ll never know I said that.

And, last, the shoes. Aren’t those fun? I wasn’t sure about pairing the gray and neon color block pumps with a red top, but everything reads neutral, so I thought why not? Definitely one of my favorite color pairings on this blog. It’s so unexpected.

While you’re here, let me invite you to join me, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and Salazar {14 Shades of Grey} in our bi-weekly style challenge, Style Imitating Art. It’s a fun challenge where one of us selects a piece of art and then we raid our closets for a sartorial interpretation. You can see some examples here. If you’d like to join, swing back by the blog on Monday to see the art selection.

Now go play in your closet,
