Ageless Style {living outside the stacks}

Hi, I know… I’m late with this post. And, gosh, we haven’t even made it through the first month. LOL I really need to get myself on a schedule. How’re you doing with your New Year New You resolutions? Did you make resolutions? I didn’t. Like I said here, I feel like I always set myself up for disappointment, so I’m just gonna sit back and let “it” happen. That doesn’t mean I’m going to be passive, it just means I’m not going to stress over things that would’ve sent me into a tizzy before. I mean, life happens, right?

THE AGELESS STYLE LINKUP

Hi, welcome to the Ageless Style Linkup. The linkup runs the first Tuesday of each month and features 10 women over the age of 40 styling an outfit based on one theme, and, because we’re all so different, each theme interpretation is different. Each month, one of the co-hosts invites a guest co-host to join us for the linkup. Our goal is to show you that style is ageless…

This month’s theme is: “Items that Age Us” and was chosen by Julia of When the Girls Rule. Well, there are few things worse than putting your ugly out there on the internet but here it is… Things that make me look old…

MY LOOK

Black Tie Neck Top and Gray Slacks {living outside the stacks}

I like these pieces separately but together? Not so much. The pieces are too loose and drapey {and I like loose and drapey}. Because the pieces are shapeless, I look shapeless. And we all know there are curves under there.

The half tuck isn’t doing me any favors either. To make this look work, I should’ve worn a pencil skirt with the top untucked or a fitted top/sweater with the flowy slacks.

The key to looking pulled together and youthful is keeping stuff balanced.

Suit with Embroidered Blouse {living outside the stacks}

Unbalanced. Unbalanced. Unbalanced. The top and the pants make me look like a walking rectangle.

Mustard Scarf Black Cardi Floral Top and Striped Skirt {living outside the stacks}

There’s nothing really wrong with this outfit. In fact, I actually like it quite a bit, but the scarf is throwing me a bit… But I’d probably wear it again anyway. Even knowing the whole thing is less than flattering. *Kanye shrug*

Polka Dot Blouse Library Book Dress Burgundy Tights and Navy Shoes {living outside the stacks}

I love this dress. It has books on it. And it has pockets. It’s also very large in the chest. I have a decent size bosom, so finding things that bag in the chest is a rarity for me. Somehow, I managed to do it. When the hosts of “What Not to Wear” talked about the importance of a tailor, I thought they were exaggerating. I’m getting this dress altered because I love this dress. It has books on it. And it has pockets.

Don’t forget to visit my co-hosts…
