Hi, welcome to the Ageless Style Linkup. The linkup runs the first Tuesday of each month and features 10 women over the age of 40 styling an outfit based on one theme, and, because we’re all so different, each theme interpretation is different. This month’s theme is: “Faux Fur” and was chosen by Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots. Our guest cohost is Leslie from Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After.
MY LOOK
I’ve had this faux fur collar in my closet for years. And, to be honest, I think I only wore it once or twice. It came with a short sleeved mock neck black sweater that I hated. In fact, I’m not even sure why I bought the sweater… I eventually got rid of the sweater and kept the collar.
I wasn’t sure how {or even if} I was going to wear it for this challenge because I always think of long sleeves and sweaters when I think of faux fur pieces. But I decided to step out of the box and try something a little out of my comfort zone.
I grew up in Italy and I used to looooove to spend my money on cameos {I also spent an obscene amount of money on watches}. I was a weird kid. Anyway, after many years and goodness knows how many moves, I no longer have my Italian cameos but I do have a collection from one of my favorite vintage stores in Missouri.
The maxi dress is goodness knows how many years old, but I think the faux fur collar with the cameo gives it new life, don’t you?
After scouring Pinterest {you can see my pins here}, I found some really cool ways to upgrade my faux fur collar for wearing with jeans. I just wish I’d found those ideas earlier. But now I have ideas for later.
