Ageless Style Linkup: Shorts

It’s the first Tuesday of the month, so that means it’s time for the Ageless Style Linkup. We take one theme and interpret it ten different ways to show you that “style doesn’t have an age limit!”

This month’s theme is: shorts and was chosen by Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots. I don’t know about you, but I don’t remember ever seeing women over a “certain age” wearing shorts. It was like women turned 25 and tossed their shorts and decided that they’d only wear cropped pants, pants, and skirts from that point on. And, while I didn’t totally give up shorts, I did stop wearing shorts with anything other than flats. I don’t know why. I looooove the idea of shorts with wedges. So, that’s how I chose to style my shorts for this month’s prompt…

Blue Peasant Top Denim Shorts and Miz Mooz Sandals #AgelessStyleLinkup {living outside the stacks}Happy Independence Day! Do you have plans? We don’t. Well, no, that’s not true. The Hubs and I are finally going to see Wonder Woman. I’m not a big movie person {short attention span and inability to sit still}, but I do want to see this movie because I’ve heard great stuff. But that being said, the ONLY movie I’m truly excited about is War for the Planet of the Apes. I’ve been waiting for that movie forever, so you know where I’m gonna be on 14 July. Ummmm, what were we talking about?

Oh, yeah, the 4th of July, shorts, and women over the age of forty…

I’m a total fan of shorts with heels. Shorts are basically skirts with a seam and I wear skirts with heels all the time so…

How do you feel about women over forty wearing shorts? Do you wear them with heels or do you prefer flats?

I love the way you teamed up your shorts with those cute thick heels. I have some silver thick heeled sandals and think i’ll try the same too – inspired by you!

    xo Yvonne

    • Thank you, Yvonne. Truth: I cannot walk in heels to save my life. LOL If it weren’t for wedges or chunky heels, I’d be in flats all the time.

  • As I began reading this, I was ok with the shorts part, and the shorts with flats part…but then my heart dropped when I read and thought about shorts with heels. Kept reading…your analogy comparing skirts to shorts with a seam makes perfect sense. And the way you look in your ‘seamed skirt’ and wedges was all the convincing I needed. Winning combo. And those sassy little wedges are mighty fine on your toned legs. I might just try this myself. Never feel 100% in shorts but need to get over it!

    • Oh, Lady, you have to give it a try. Start with a longer pair, maybe Bermuda length, and pair with one of your cute boho tops and see how you feel. Maybe just walk around your house and visit a friend to kind of ease yourself into a shorts with heels look. Make sure you let me see!

How fun! I am 48 and I live in shorts…lol! I don’t think age should ever be a reason to “not” wear something. I think it’s moreso a confidence thing, but I also think that it’s a mindset. You can tell if a woman is wearing something because she is trying to be 20 again, or if she just really loves it. Will I wear short shorts because, why not? No….because I know I wouldn’t really look good in them, wouldn’t be comfortable or confident in them, etc. I think it’s a matter of knowing what looks good on your body. It’s okay to realize there are just some things you should not wear…lol.

    • I totally agree with you: CONFIDENCE, MINDSET, & COMFORT!

  • I hardly ever wear shorts, not because I don’t like them, but because they aren’t allowed at the office. When I do wear shorts, I wear flats, but then I always wear flats – chiropractor’s orders. I do have to say that I love the idea that everyone can wear anything they want. And it totally reminds me of a great song/video I discovered the other day (thanks NPR) which I think you will get a kick out of –

    • That video is everything!! Love it.

During the summer, I slip into shorts as soon as I get home. It’s beyond hot here. When I lived in Pennsylvania and Missouri I almost never wore shorts.

  • I love the boho vibe to this look! Your tunic is darling and those wedges are fabulous! i heard Wonder Woman is a great movie! Enjoy!

    Doused In Pink

    • Thank you, Jill. The movie was great and I’m not a super hero movie kinda girl. I really enjoyed it.

  • This is so cute! Great boho tunic with your denim cutoffs and I love you styled our shorts with wedges. Honestly, I prefer wedges with my shorts to elongate my legs, but I do wear flat sandals and Chucks with them, as well.

    • Thank you, I love the way you style shorts. Wedges are definitely leg lengthening and they up the style factor. Speaking of Chucks, it may be time for me to invest in a pair. I love them with dresses.

  • Seriously, how cute are you?!! This outfit is precious. I really want to go see Wonder Woman. I have always hated going to the movies until recently…..our theatre moved to all recliners and I feel much more relaxed.

    • Shelly, thank you. Recliners? Oh, man, theaters have come a long way since sticky floors and little elbow space.
