Ageless Style Linkup: The Utility Jacket {or Cardigan}

THE AGELESS STYLE LINKUP

Nine ladies, forty and over, show you that style doesn’t have an age limit. A themed linkup takes place on the first Tuesday of every month.

This month’s theme is: STYLING A UTILITY JACKET {OR CARDIGAN}.

So, try as I might, I could not find an actual utility jacket. Maybe Albany, Georgia isn’t the fashion hub I thought it to be? I don’t know… But I do own a cardigan that has some military influences, so I decided to use it as an alternative.

I decided to pair my cardigan with this cute little tee shirt dress that I purchased from a store called Relics to Riches. I’ve always wanted a tee shirt dress because of the versatility {think about this dress paired with a chunky sweater, tights, and funky boots for winter}, so finding this one for $20 made my heart all kinds of happy. Because the library is so very chilly, I decided to wear leggings, which have become a go~to look for me in the last year or so.

Did you notice the hair cut? About a month ago I got a wild hair and decided to chop all my hair off {actually, I’ve been pinning pixie cuts and teeny weeny afros on Pinterest for months}, the next day I decided that I needed to have it professionally shaped up, so I found a beautician and had her shape me up. I’m totally digging this shorter look — so very easy to style.

And, last but not least, that necklace. The Hubs and I were in this sweet little store in Americus and The Hubs pointed to the necklace and said: “That’s you!” So it came home with us. I love that he knows me so well.

Anyway, do you own a utility jacket or a military inspired cardigan? How do you wear yours? Do you wear it boho like I did or are you more structured in your style?

  • Daenel, I love this!! Adding that dress was so clever. Its drapes and folds create such depth to the cardigan’s already flowy silhouette. And the colour, so rich. And the necklace, so dramatic. And the hair, baby!! xoxo

    And if you haven’t yet, do come over and join my weekly Friday Link-Up? I’d love to see you there.

  • This long draped cardigan with its military influence is so you, Daenel. I love that you chose something that is your style and works with the theme. I am just sitting here admiring your layering skills. Love it all, lady!

    • Thank you. So guess what I found yesterday when I went to Ross? A whole shipment of utility jackets had arrived. I was like you have got to be kidding me. LOL

  • ADA

    I am glad Jennie chose the theme this week with an utility jacket. That draped olive cardigan is so your style. Love all the layers as usually. =) The booties with the thin socks look amazing. Don’t forget to linkup on Thursdays with me, lovely lady. Thanks, Ada. =)

    • Sometimes I think things have to be an exact match/interpretation, but the idea is to put our spin on a theme. I have to keep that in mind.

  • Audrey McCulley
