Hi, welcome to the Ageless Style Linkup. The linkup runs the first Tuesday of each month and features 10 women over the age of 40 styling an outfit based on one theme, and, because we’re all so different, each theme interpretation is different. Each month, one of the co-hosts invites a guest co-host to join us for the linkup. Our goal is to show you that style is ageless…
This month’s theme is: “Whiteout” and was chosen by Paula of Dimples On My What. The guest co-host, also selected by Paula, is Dawn from Dawned On Me.
MY LOOK
If there is one color that I rarely wear, it has to be white. I talked about why I don’t wear white tops here, but the reason I don’t wear white bottoms is, well, pretty much the same reason. Add to that the fact that I carry most of my weight in my middle, and I just avoid solid white at all costs. That being said, I knew that this month’s theme involved some aspect of white clothing, so I decided to pair my gingham top {which I’ve worn before here} with white Bermuda shorts from Ethyl Clothing.
I’m totally blaming the purchase of this gingham top on Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag. She must have something gingham in every color of the rainbow! And she always looks so darned cute and summery, so… I saw this little off-the-shoulder number at Walmart and scooped it up. I like that it’s long enough that I can belt it {if I were ever so inclined} or do a half tuck.
As for the earrings, I happened to be in Walgreens waiting on a prescription when I wandered over to the jewelry stand. Yes! I ended up getting the turquoise and burnt orange colors. I just thought they were super cute. The tassel necklace was a fun Target find.
Like I said, I’m not a big fan of white on my bottom half, but part of the Ageless Style challenge is stepping outside of my comfort zone, so… I adore these shorts. They’re incredibly comfortable because of the pull-on style and the material is stretchy without being shapeless. I wore them all day long without them bagging. And not once did I have to do “The Pull-Up Shimmy”. That being said, the material is opaque, so you want to wear flesh colored underwear. As for sizing, Ethyl Clothing is vanity sized, so go down one size from your normal size.
