Along with improving my photography skills, I want to read more this year. You’d think that I’d read a lot since I’m a librarian, but I don’t. I mean, I buy books, start them, put them down to watch This Is Us and never pick them up again. This year, I’m going to meet my goal of 12 books for the year. Baby steps, y’all.

BOOK GIRL MAGIC READING CHALLENGE

I discovered the Book Girl Magic Reading Challenge on Carla’s blog, Rae La Soul. The #BGMReadingChallenge is hosted on Instagram. This format offers a fun way to share photos and reviews of books that you’re currently reading or have read.

I have an Instagram that’s strictly dedicated to books, so feel free to take a look and follow along {FYI: Instagramming your books is called “Bookstagramming”}.

The first book I’m reading is The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe. The novel is based on the real life of Dita, a 14-year-old girl who had the overwhelming and dangerous responsibility of caring for eight books that prisoners managed to sneak into Auschwitz. I’ve always been interested in stories of the Holocaust and the things that people did to survive.  I just can’t imagine living through such horror while trying to maintain some semblance of a normal life.
