Blogging Through the Gospels: Matthew 1

Matthew 1:24

When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him:  he took his wife,

I was struck by the obedience to God’s word despite the fear of ridicule and harassment that Joseph surely knew he’d face after people discovered that Mary was with child and it wasn’t his.  Talk about stepping out on faith

Even though I’ve always believed in Christ, I’ve never really publicly proclaimed my faith because I didn’t want to be teased or labeled as a “Jesus freak”.  As I get older and wiser, I pray I become more like Joseph and practice obedience regardless of the personal cost.

Dear Heavenly Father, Please give me the strength and the courage to obey your word without fear of personal cost.  If it means that I’ll be teased or lose relationships, so be it.  I want to step out in faith like Joseph and let your will be done.  Amen.

I’m joining with hundreds of other bloggers in studying God’s word through a program called Blogging Through The Gospels.  If you would like to participate, all you have to do is grab your Bible, read the selected chapter and then write a post on your blog.  Blogging Through the Gospels is hosted by Amy at Mom’s Toolbox.  To link up your post or read her SOAP, go here.
