So, if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that The Hubs and I have been looking for a trailer/camper/RV for a couple of years now and we finally found one. This past weekend we took it out for a trial run. We went for an overnight trip to Lake Blackshear , a local resort and golf club. We chose this spot because we wanted to stay close to home while getting the overnight camping experience. We’re new at this!

The resort/camp grounds are located in the middle of Georgia Veterans Memorial Park in Cordele, Georgia. A beautiful place, if you get the chance to visit.

Here are a few photos of The Hubs setting up the trailer:

The Hubs did the hard work of setting everything up, while I was responsible for making sure that everything was level.

Here’s the campground:

We were at the entry to the 3rd campground; I thought it’d be loud but it was actually pretty quiet. We were surrounded by trees and quite a few other campers {some slept in tents, others in RVs, and some had trailers like ours}. Everyone was incredibly helpful and full of advice for us, which we definitely appreciated. Especially when it came time to empty the sewage {I won’t share photos of that, but let’s just say lots of rubber gloves, hand sanitizer, and Lysol were involved}.

Enjoying the fruits of The Hubs labor:

We’ve decided that calories don’t count when you’re on vacation…

The Hubs is the master of relaxation…

It was beyond peaceful out there.

  • OH, my gosh, your photography just keeps getting better. The photo with the cows. Your hubby relaxing with a closeup of his tootsies. The reflection on the water. Your desert. Well done, well done!!!

Have I missed a blog post with a tour of your new digs or haven’t you done one yet? I want to see every nook and cranny!! So happy for the two of you to have realized this dream.

    • Thank you, Leslie. We are enjoying this part of our lives so very much.

I haven’t done a tour of the camper, but thank you for the idea. That will definitely go on the list of things to do.

  • Woo hoo! I love it!! You guys did it!! You both look so chill and relaxed, like old pros at camping!
Can we pause and stare at your gorgeous hair?? Your photos are beautiful and I can’t wait to see your next adventure.

    • Thank you. Shon, we are having so much fun. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much as I am but it’s relaxing. Even with the setting up and breaking down of camp.

As for the hair, lemme tell ya, there are days when I just want to slap a perm in it and call it a day. I think I spend more time working on it now than I did when it was straightened, but I’m trying to hold out.

I’ve always loved the idea of an RV since I like camping, but the sewage thing has kept me away 🙂

    • LOL We have discovered full hook up camp sites, it’s a game changer. No dealing with sewage.
