Chambray and Mustard and Animal Prints ~ Oh My!

Chambray Tunic Mustard Jeans and Animal Print Flats {living outside the stacks}

Hello! This is the beginning of a series about chambray tunics. I’ve had this chambray tunic {and the mustard pants} in my closet forever and I think I’ve worn it twice. Not cool. Especially when you consider how incredibly cute and comfortable this tunic is.

I’ll tell you, honestly, I have two reasons for not wearing the tunic:

  • my waist ~ I don’t like anything that emphasizes my {nonexistent} waist
  • I’m not a chambray shirt/tunic kind of girl

What a load of crock! I don’t have a waist, so this tunic is the perfect opportunity to create one using belts and I bought this tunic knowing that it’s chambray, so there had to have been something about it that I liked. Right? Right. And Pinterest totally agrees with me, I pinned a few chambray tunic/shirt outfits here.

I wasn’t sure about which bottoms to wear until I came across these pants in my closet. I bought these pants when we first moved to Georgia about a year ago and, sadly, this’ll probably be the last time I wear them. They’re too big. I’ve lost weight. Yay! So I’m not upset about the reason I won’t get to wear them, just sad that I didn’t wear them more. I mean, really, mustard pants rock! Not sure, check out my Pinterest board for mustard pants.

And ending with these animal print flats is a no brainer. Animal print really is the best neutral ever.

    • Thank you, Jen. Aren’t those flats the best? I never thought I’d wear them as much as I do.

  • I really love your style!

  • Kelly

    you are so stylish.

  • fuschia

Oh my, skinny jeans??! ….okay then, you should let them go, lol….but definitely get that color again sometime, it looks so good on you, and it’s a great fall color. 🙂 Have a great day!

  • Melissa G

Very cute! I wouldn’t have thought to pair chambray with mustard, but it’s quite nice!

    • Thank you. I don’t know why I had hard time with this.

  • fuschia

I love the look! The pants do not look like they are too big for you in your pictures. If you wear them with a tunic type top, no one would know but you (while smiling on the inside). I say go for it, and do not get rid of them. Such a fun color!

    • Thank you. They’re actually supposed to be skinny jeans. LOL I have on two belts — one to hold up the pants and one over the tunic. I’m going to have to let them go, but I’ll definitely look for another pair in the same color.

  • Sooo much to love here! The chambray and mustard are a prefect combination and to top it off with leopard print was brilliant. Your hair is looking positively gorgeous. Dying over these adorable photos. You are giving me inspiration all around. Thanks, friend!

    • Thank you!! I wasn’t sure about this outfit because it’s not anything I would normally wear. In fact, I’m surprised it’s even in my closet. LOL I’ve been trying to branch out with the photos and do something different. I’m not comfortable shooting outside. Which is so weird considering I make my daughter do it all the time.

  • Love your pants, the color is great. Perfectly styled with a chambray tunic and leopard flats. Love this look!

    • Thank you, Elise!! Even though it’s a different look for me, I was very comfortable.
