Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. If you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

A couple of days ago I was at the Walmart Super Center looking for lactose free meal replacement shakes {I like to drink them as I drive to work in the morning because I’m not really a sit~down~and~breakfast kinda person} and I stumbled across the 5 day Nutrisystem weightloss program and was like hmmmmm… And that’s about as far as it went because, again, I was on a mission to find lactose free shakes which are next to impossible to find… But I finally found some and left the store. Anyway, the next day I had to go to graduation {mandatory for faculty} and I was talking to two faculty members from the nursing department and one of them mentioned that she’d recently lost 15 lbs on Nutrisystem. This immediately caught my attention because if someone from the nursing department is using the program it has to be OK, right? Anyway, I started asking questions and she told me how the program worked and how she’d even encouraged her husband to do the program with her so that she wouldn’t be all googly eyed staring at his meals. So I decided to go back to Walmart and pick up the 5 day starter kit that I saw on the shelf and give it a whirl. I’m on day 3 now and I can honestly say, except for the second day, I haven’t really been all that hungry. I’m not sure why that second day was so brutal but I did end up eating a banana to stave off the hunger pains. Honestly, I think it was probably more mental than physical. The meals themselves are OK. The desserts are super good {especially the chocolate covered pretzels}. I started at a solid 165 lbs, so we’ll see where the 5 day plan gets me… In fact, I’ll just post a review later next week.

I just finished my first book from My Lit Box, a monthly book subscription service that I signed up for a few months back. The book is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. I cannot wait to share my review with you. That book is so far out of my comfort zone and something I never would’ve picked up on my own but… Yeah, I’m just gonna leave that right there. You can read my other reviews here, if you’re looking to add to your summer reading list.

True story: my mom just found out after seven years that her beloved Long~Haired Chihuahua is really a Pomeranian. Everyone’s reaction? That explains why he’s so nice. Sorry, Squeekerz, we’re not looking at you.

Now, it’s your turn… What’s going on in your world? Anything have you scratching your head or belly laughing? Is there a book I absolutely must add to my TBR Shelf? Have you cooked or ordered anything tasty?

Cheers,

Daenel T {Living Outside the Stacks}
