Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. If you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

The first week of 2017 is in the books. How are things going so far? Things are going well for us. We had the opportunity to spend time with our grandchildren in Texas and, let me tell you, it was a blessing beyond blessings. Seeing their smiles… Hearing their laughter… Watching them play in the backseat of the car… It was the best gift. Our son was able to make it down to visit too. My heart was so full I thought I was gonna burst.

Are you a hoarder or a minimalist? I think I’m somewhere in between. I have a hard time getting rid of my things, but an easy time getting rid of other people’s stuff. I found this slideshow from Family Circle called 18 Things You Can Get Rid of Today. I had to snicker at the utensil drawer because one day The Hubs went with me to the dollar store and, kid you not, he grabbed and bought ten spatulas because they were a dollar each. He actually ran through the store going “This is only a dollar!” So, yeah, we have a ton of spatulas and slotted spoons. We’re also guilty of the mail thing. Junk mail piles up on the kitchen counter until I get tired of looking at it and then I toss it. I don’t know why I don’t just chuck it in the garbage when I walk past it on my way into the house. Do you have anything from the list in your house?

There are two movies out that I want to see but I haven’t gotten around to it: Fences and Hidden Figures. Have you seen either one? I’ve heard good things about both movies. Maybe I should get off the computer, grab The Hubs, and head out… Hmmmm?

Oh, yeah, I have some exciting news to share… I’ve talked about Instagram before and how I love the fact that it’s connected me to some wonderful people over the years. One of those connections is Jessica from @ourlifelongstories. She and I found each other through #thebethadillychallenge and formed our own little mutual admiration club. A few weeks ago, Jessica shared a dream of hers with me: a desire to create a space for women to share their love of faith, family, photography, and everything in between. And she invited me and a few other ladies to share that dream with her. The result of that dream is Her Clicks, a place for and about women. Anyway, I’ll be writing a monthly lifestyle column for the website.

Her Stories {click to subscribe}

There’s also a monthly magazine and I’m inviting you to subscribe and share the love. It’s free!

Talk to me, what’s going on in your world?

Cheers,

Daenel T {Living Outside the Stacks}
