Coffee Talk: Goodbye, August. Hello, September

Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. If you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

August. What can we say about the month of August? Probably the single month where we’ve seen both the worst and the best of humanity. I’m hoping that we’ll continue to see the best, but rose colored glasses ain’t my jam, so I know this is just a phase. There will be more head desk moments. Number 45, I’m looking at you.

On to September…

Classes are back in session, which means two things: we’re busy at the library and I’m going to get sick. I’ve come to accept that with the return of the students comes a week or two of illness for me. It all started when my kids started kindergarten and has continued every year since I started working in the library. Kanye shrug It is what it is.

When I took Squeekerz outside this morning, I could feel a little nip in the air. You’ll never understand how happy this makes me. I don’t like cold weather, but I do like sweater weather. I have some of the cutest sweaters and boots; it pains my heart to have to stow them away during the brutal days of summer.

I failed miserably at each and every photography challenge for August. No excuses, just fact. Maybe there’s hope for September?

Last week, The Hubs and I bought some wine and ~ oh my word ~ was it nasty. But I didn’t have the heart to throw it away because, ummmm, wasteful. I ended up using it to cook some ribs and yum! So now I know, disgusting wine makes tasty ribs.

I was talking to my kids and they were telling me how hard it is for them to figure out what they want to do with the rest of their lives, and, y’all, I couldn’t offer them any sage advice. I mean, I’m 44 and there are days when I still don’t know what I want to do. Sometimes, I feel like I’m just drifting through the day… Drifting through life, you know? Waiting for the wind to blow me into the path of something good. Not really the ideal way to live life. How did you know what you wanted to do? Are you living your dream? What is your dream?

Now, it’s your turn… What’s going on in your world? Anything have you scratching your head or belly laughing? Is there a book I absolutely must add to my TBR Shelf? Have you cooked or ordered anything tasty?
