Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. If you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

So grab a cup of coffee {or tea or whatever floats your boat} and let’s talk…

  1. We all knew the moment his death was announced that people were going to start coming out of the woodwork. And they are… There’s a prisoner in Colorado who’s claiming to be the sole heir to Prince’s fortune. His siblings are fighting over his legacy. People are clamoring to get into his vault of unpublished material. And former employees are sharing anecdotes about their experiences while in his employment.

This makes me sick angry.

Prince carefully crafted his image and that image was one of privacy. Now everyone is trying to cash in and exploit their connections. Prince’s brother said he wants to release Prince’s unreleased material so that people know “how great he really is.” Guess what? People already know that he was a talented artist. If you truly respected your brother and his memory, you’d let him rest in death the way he lived his life: privately.

  1. I read somewhere that this election cycle was orchestrated by the Queen to get her colony back. I’m starting to think this can be the only possible explanation.
  2. A few weeks ago, The Hubs and I were talking about buying an RV. We even found one that we seriously considered buying. But we decided against it. We have the hardest time committing to big ticket frivolous items. We’re always in emergency preparedness mode. Or, at least, it feels that way. I think it’s kind of taking a toll on us. It just feels like every time we plan to do something crazy the unexpected happens. Do you live the same way? Or do you just say “forget it, we only have one life”? Help me out.
  3. Why is George Zimmerman still a thing? As if getting away with murder isn’t enough, he tried to auction off the gun that he used to murder Trayvon Martin. He is never going to allow Trayvon or his family to rest/live in peace. I wonder how the jurors are feeling right about now.

Now it’s your turn, what’s got you scratching your head?
