Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. If you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

Strawberry Chocolate Chip Pound Cake {living outside the stacks}

True story: The Hubs likes box cakes. I’m not sure what the deal is but sometimes I’ll come home from work and there’ll be a box of cake mix and icing siting on the counter. Hint much? I’m not a big box cake fan. Sometimes it can taste a little, ummmm, generic. So I’ve started playing around with add~ins to customize the taste of the cakes. And, as long as the add~ins don’t include nuts or coconuts, The Hubs is OK with me experimenting.

This Strawberry Chocolate Chip Pound Cake is one of my experimental first cakes. The Hubs and the girls loved it. I mean, they ate the entire thing in one sitting.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 box Duncan Hines Strawberry Supreme Moist Deluxe Cake Mix {make sure you get the ingredients listed on the box}
  • 1 Cup Semi~sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Container Vanilla Frosting

DIRECTIONS

For the cake

  1. Follow the directions on the box for the cake
  2. After mixing the ingredients add the cup of chocolate chips to the cake mix
  3. Bake according to package directions

For the frosting

  1. Put the frosting into a microwave safe container and microwave until soft {I used a measuring cup because it made it easy to drizzle the frosting on the cake}
  2. After the cake has cooled, drizzle the frosting on the cake and let cool again

Do you prefer store bought or box cake?

Happy Snacking,
