Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. If you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who lifted my sister up in prayer. We {I say that because, well, twins… Trust me, we went through this together}  are now two weeks post~op and she’s doing well. I think, honestly, that this little scare made us realize how much we do need and depend on each other. I was beyond happy to be able to be there to support her. And I want to think The Hubs for his help, his support, and his mad driving skills.

Let me state that I am not a comic book kinda girl, but I do have a sentimental attachment to Wonder Woman. My dad and I used to watch the original series with Lynda Carter when I was a kid. That being said, have you seen the trailer for the new Wonder Woman movie with Gal Gadot? I’ve linked to it here just in case you haven’t. From the trailer, can you tell what people are complaining about? Go ahead, watch it again, I’ll wait… Give up? It’s her armpits. Her. Armpits. Specifically, the lack of hair under her armpits. Yes, seriously. People are upset because they believe that a woman who lives on an island full of other women would not be aware of cultural constructs like shaved pits. sigh You guys are thinking way too hard about this. Maybe shaved pits are Diana’s personal preference. Maybe some of the other ladies on the island have hairy pits and legs. Maybe some don’t shape their brows. Isn’t feminism supposed to be all about having a choice in how one presents her body without others dictating? Or maybe this is just a movie and instead of focusing on the lack of hair, we should be celebrating the fact that there is a woman kicking butt on the big screen.

Underground is back for another season. If you’re not watching it, you should be. The acting, the story lines, the cinematography, the costumes, y’all, it’s everything.

Now, it’s your turn… What’s going on in your world? Anything have you scratching your head or belly laughing? Is there a book I absolutely must add to my TBR Shelf? Have you cooked or ordered anything tasty? Do you have any products that you’re absolutely loving?

Cheers,

Daenel T {Living Outside the Stacks}
