Weird Compliments {In the Closet}

Last week I shared an interesting grocery store encounter with my Facebook friends, so I decided to share it here because it was, well, weird. Although deep down inside I’m sure it was meant as a compliment…

Cashier #1: “When we go out tonight, I wanna wear what she’s wearing.” (looking at me)
Cashier #2: “You wanna go shopping?”
Cashier #1: “No, I want what she has on right now. Take her clothes…”
Me: “Uhhhh” I didn’t know what to do with that conversation so I backed away slowly

I didn’t think there was anything particularly theft worthy about my outfit. Just about everything was purchased either second hand or on clearance.Denim Jacket Black Tee Brown Skirt and Boots {Living Outside the Stacks}

In fact, the most expensive thing I’m wearing is that handbag. It’s by Sharif for HSN. I love most of his bags. They’re just this side of funky and you don’t see everyone carrying them.

Now I’ve had people compliment my outfits before but I’ve never had anyone want to take the clothes off my back. So that brings me to this, have you ever received a compliment that kinda freaked you out?

    You look fabulous! I don’t understand why people have to say strange things, but you know they do. God bless them 🙂 I have had people say, “I would kill to have your hair” it is always strange. Oh well. It could be worse! Aren’t jean jackets so fun?!

    • People are so weird. LOL But you gotta love them. And, yeah, you do have pretty fabulous hair! 😉

      I absolutely adore jean jackets. They’re so flexible and can change up an outfit like that.

    You look fabulous! I think

    ha! for the record if i ever spotted you somewhere and liked (wanted) what you were wearing, i wouldn’t tell you…i would just wait for you to post about and confess then! enjoy your weekend;)

    • LOL Thank you, Chandra. When we left the hubs was like “Wow. That was odd.” I’ve asked someone where they’ve bought something but I’ve never threatened to take their clothes before.

  • See you’ve got style, that’s something I don’t have. If it looks good on the mannequin, I go with it.
    A couple of weeks back I was sitting in my office when one of my peers came in to ask my advice about something. Well she looked down at a picture of me on my desk that was taken like 15 years ago……and I was wearing practically the exact same outfit. I hadn’t realized it myself until she pointed it out. I had to laugh at that myself.

    • Hahahaha Dude, you sound like my husband with the picture. I promise if I didn’t coax him into trying new colors and prints he’d still be wearing brown, black, tan, and navy.

      I’ll let you in on a little secret: Pinterest helps me dress. If I see something there, I try to do something similar.

      • Hmmmm, that sounds familiar. 90% of my closet is blue, black and tan.

  • Ha! I’m not sure how I would’ve felt about it. Did they realize you could hear them? Lol. As usual, I love your skirt and your layering. And I’d never heard of Sharif, so I’ll be looking out for his bags from now on. It’s really nice!

    • Yes! I was checking out and the cashier was talking to the cashier who was helping me. Just weird and funny.

      Sharif can be a bit overwhelming with his designs, but, like I said, I like that not everyone carries his stuff so it’s unique.

  • lol..yeah a bit awkward!!

    Too funny! Your outfit is cute though. I actually say that to my partner when I see something I like. The big difference is that I don’t say it out loud and I don’t mean it. I think..

    Who is that girl Mo?

    • LOL I hear some crazy stuff but that’s the first time I’ve ever had someone want to take the clothes off my back.
