Eyes without Glasses #OurProject52 {Living Outside the Stacks}

I got my first pair of glasses when I was about 7 or 8 years old…

Leaves {Living Outside the Stacks}

I remember walking out of the doctor’s office, standing on the sidewalk, looking up at the trees, and being gobsmacked. Trees had individual leaves. I mean, I’d seen leaves, or, at least, the fuzzy outline of single leaves on the ground but I’d never seen them on trees before. To me, they’d always looked like a giant green mass on top of a brown stick.

Of course, I didn’t always appreciate the specs. I suffered for years with dry, red, strained eyes because I wanted to wear contact lenses even though every optometrist I saw advised against them. Oh, Vanity, you are a manipulative one…

Now that I’m ahem older and wiser, I don’t mind them. That much. This year I decided to get funky with my frames and go with purple and pink frames instead of my usual safe brown or black ones. It’s a decision I don’t regret. In fact, I think my next pair may be even bolder… Red, perhaps?
