Daenel T {living outside the stacks} Fab Forties Apocalypse

One of my favorite TV shows ever is The Walking Dead. Please don’t @ me on this. I will fight you. Anyway, when I lived in Missouri, my coworkers and I used to meet first thing Monday morning to discuss the previous evening’s episode. We even came up with a survival plan for the library and I started using the show to teach Information Literacy sessions. So, yeah, I take my walkers very seriously.

Therefore, this theme, while shocking, was a whole lot of fun and gave me the opportunity to pay homage to one of my favorite characters on The Walking Dead: Dale, who helped the group survive in his RV.

About the Fab Forties

The Fab Forties is a group of five style bloggers from around the globe who come together once a month to share their common love of fashion. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger, who is also in her forties, to join us. The group’s goal is to take on a style trend and show how we each interpret and incorporate it into our lives. Six different ladies, six different styles, you’re sure to find something that inspires you.

The Theme

Apocalypse, selected by Shelbee from Shelbee on the Edge. Our guest co-host, also selected by Shelbee, is Chrissy from Granola & Grace.

My Outfit

When we first started having our Monday morning debriefing sessions, one of my coworkers sent me a text that said “Hey, think seriously about what you choose to wear, that could become your walker outfit.” So I thought I’d wear something that can easily camouflage me when necessary. I also thought about the weather and the terrain.

Realistically speaking, I know I’d meet my end pretty quickly. I mean, I wear glasses and can’t see past my nose without them. So, in the event of a zombie apocalypse, I hope to make myself useful to some group by providing a place to live in my RV. And, since I’m a librarian, I’d be pretty handy when it comes to looking up information about how to create gardens, purify water, etc.
