The Theme

This month’s theme, Child at Heart, was chosen by Suzy.

My Outfit

I wasn’t sure how to handle this theme when I first read it… I mean, my style has always been unique. You can see a few pictures of a young me on Instagram.

Anyway, I think I was about 6 or 7 years old and my mother bought me this pretty little red sundress with embroidery across the chest and flouncy layers across the hem. Every time I wore the dress I felt like a flamenco dancer {my mom also had one of those flamenco dancer and bull statues that were so popular back in the day}. I wore this dress all. The. Time.

And when I outgrew it, I cried so many tears.

So when I started thinking about what I’d wear for this month’s theme, I knew I’d go with something embroidered. And when I saw the sleeves on this top, I immediately thought about my little red dress. Gah, I wish I had a picture of me in that dress.

Side note, I still remember the last time I wore that dress. We were living in Fort Eustis, Virginia at the time and there was some sort of celebration on the post. There was a tent set up with belly dancers and they were doing demonstrations and bringing people up to dance with them. I was mesmerized. And I decided right then and there that I was going to run away and become a belly dancer. My mom was not pleased.
