The Theme

This month’s theme, Festival Style, selected by Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge. I’ve always wanted to attend Essence Fest so let’s pretend I’m there. Essence Fest is a weekend long celebration of Black culture and excellence. There’s music, comedy, food, and all kinds of fun.

My Outfit

Daenel T {living outside the stacks}

Because Essence Fest takes place during the summer, a hat is a must: keeps the sun out of the eyes and no need to worry about my hair getting all messy. Speaking of hair, did you notice I chopped it all off again? Growing out my undercut and the straightener had me looking a little raggedy, so I grabbed the scissors and chopped away.

I know I don’t wear them often, but I love a denim dress. There’s something so relaxed but dress about them. And this dress is perfect for wandering the festival grounds. It’s sleeveless and the denim is lightweight enough to keep me from getting overheated, but heavy enough that I don’t have to worry about see-through {if you know what I mean}.

Flat sandals in a funky, but neutral, color are a must. A pop of color with a lot of comfort.

ABOUT THE FAB FORTIES

The Fab Forties is a group of style bloggers from around the globe who come together once a month to share their common love of fashion. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger, who is also in her forties, to join us. The group’s goal is to take on a style trend and show how we each interpret and incorporate it into our lives. Six different ladies, six different styles, you’re sure to find something that inspires you.

Sheela’s outfit is so fun and playful. And definitely edgy! I’m digging the lace dress.

Shelbee {Shelbee on the Edge}

How fun is Shelbee’s outfit? I can totally see her dancing in a field, can’t you? That bag is crazy good. It kinda has a handmade feel to it, but with a vintage edge.

Suzy {Suzy Turner}

I’m loving Suzy’s kimono. I think she’s hanging out at the same festival as Shelbee. And look at those sandals! Very pretty and super funky.

OK, here’s a little secret about Eva’s outfit: the top used to be a dress! I know, right? Make sure you head over to her blog for all of the details. And, I mean, just look at her outfit though… So pretty and comfy.
