Florals and Plaids {living outside the stacks}

The Fab Forties is a group of five style bloggers from around the globe who come together once a month to share their common love of fashion. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger, who is also in her forties, to join us. The group’s goal is to take on a style trend and show how we each interpret and incorporate it into our lives. Six different ladies, six different styles, you’re sure to find something that inspires you.

The Theme

Our theme: Florals and Plaids was selected by Mary.

My Outfit

Florals and Plaids {living outside the stacks}

Hi, I hope you had a great weekend. The Hubs and I spent the weekend cleaning out the house and reorganizing a few rooms. We relocated my home office from upstairs to downstairs {which is way more convenient and comfortable}. I’ll be sharing photos soon. I also found my Class A jacket from when I was in the Army in one of the boxes we hadn’t unpacked since we left Missouri. I can’t believe that was over 20 years ago. Seriously, time sure does fly.

Anyway, I played around with this theme for a couple of days and none of my idea outfits panned out. I mean, I own plaid pants and a plaid blazer. I also own floral print everything but none of it seemed to go well together. Then I remembered these plaid and floral mules in the back of my closet and decided to dig them out and play around with the colors in them.

I brought out the colors in my mules in my jewelry: the olive earrings, the leather cuff, and the green tassel necklace.

I decided on this floral lace top because this top really needed to see the light of day. I think the last time I wore it was  Christmas 2017.

The jeans are new. They were gifted to me by Laurie Felt from Laurie Felt Hollywood. Y’all already know I’m a big fan of her designs. These jeans are incredibly comfortable, however, I think I can wear a smaller size. I think my weight loss program is finally starting to work…

Sheela {Sheela Writes}

I know I’m supposed to be focusing on Sheela’s outfit, buuuuut – dang – if she doesn’t have Tina Turner-esque legs! Anyway back to the outfit – the jacket is cuuuuute! So’s the ball cap.

Shelbee {Shelbee on the Edge}

Blazer: Target | Blouse: Cato Fashions | Skirt: Old Navy | Boots: Burlington Coat Factory | Clutch: Coach
How cute is Shelbee’s outfit? I love the double plaid with the black boots. The floral is so subtle, yet it makes an impact.

Suzy {Pixie Chick in Portugal}

Plaid heels – Bershka | Floral sweater – Oasis | Blue trousers – Promod | Plaid scarf – hubby’s (!) | Handbag – Gift from mother-in-law

Suzy always gives me 1940’s vibes. Those shoes are hands down my favorite! They just look so sexy with the cuffed pants.

Do you wear florals and plaids together? I know I’m wearing it in a very subtle way but if you want some ideas for bold pattern mixing, check out my Pinterest board.

Now go play in your closet,
