Hi, Friends! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Mine was nice. I got to spend some one-on-one time with two of my four daughters and, y’all, it was such a gift. We laughed and reminisced about some of the silly things they used to say and do when they were little people. The favorite being that they couldn’t wait to grow up so they could eat a whole Cornish Game Hen. Seriously. I have no idea why that was the marker of adulthood, but it was. Funny part, one daughter is a vegetarian and the other is ambivalent about poultry.

About the Fab Forties

The Fab Forties is a group of style bloggers from around the globe who come together once a month to share their common love of fashion. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger, who is also in her forties, to join us. The group’s goal is to take on a style trend and show how we each interpret and incorporate it into our lives. Four different ladies, four different styles, you’re sure to find something that inspires you.

The Theme

We’ve reached the cozy time of the year, when things are kind of winding down, the weather is getting a bit chillier, and all we really wanna do is be comfy, so I chose loungewear.

MY LOOK

I received this loungewear set as part of a grab bag from Love Olive Co. If you’re not familiar with “grab bag” shopping, you send in x amount of money and they pick out 4 or 5 items for you. The fun is that you don’t know what you’re going to receive, but it’s all first quality items that are in limited supply. In this case, I sent in $45 and received this tie dye lounger, sweater, sweatshirt, and dress. All things I never would’ve picked for myself but absolutely adore.

I was never really much of a pajamas or loungewear kind of girl until I received these. I mean, I used to just throw on a pair of sweat pants and an oversized tee. Not a good look. But when I received this set – oh my word – my veg life changed. I feel so comfortable, yet pulled together. I’m not embarrassed to answer the door or walk the dogs in this outfit. It’s short sleeved, so I tend to throw a maxi cardi over it for extra warmth.

If you’re on Instagram, I hope you’ll consider joining me for coffee {or your beverage of choice}. This is just my way to get the day started and offer a bit of encouragement as we go out and face whatever comes our way.

Don’t Forget to Visit My Co-Hosts

Ada, Elegance and MommyhoodEveryday Life+Style, an Adorable Girl named Vivian, Poetry and more…

Ada and her little one are showing us a bit of luxe leisure and I’m here for it. I love a sweater dress, so comfy and cozy. And incredibly versatile – can be worn for coffee dates, movie watching, or mother-daughter snuggles.

Shelbee, Shelbee on the Edge – Rediscover your edge

How cute is Shelbee’s outfit? I love the colors and the patterns. Just perfect for cozying up with a book. And can we talk about how long her hair is getting? Love it!

Suzy, The Grey Brunette – Happily giving the finger to ageism!

Suzy looks so serene in her pink loungewear. And look at those cute little slipper socks- I know her feet are so warm. I don’t know if you’ve been following Suzy’s photography journey, but girlfriend has some skills!

WHERE I WORE IT

I wore this just chillin’ at my house, you know, drinking coffee, fighting off puppy kisses, and enjoying my time off.

Sizing: I’m 5’4″ and a dress size 12 to 14 {M,L}. I wear a size 9.5 shoe.

If you notice, I make a distinction between loungewear and pajamas. For me, loungewear is clothing that is comfortable and can be worn outside of the home, whereas pajamas are articles of clothing that one typically wears to bed. I remember the whole wear your jammies out in public craze and I was not a fan. But I can’t lie, I did see the appeal. There are days when I simply don’t want to do the whole put it all together just to run to the grocery store.

That being said, loungewear {and pajamas} shouldn’t be just for those times when you think someone may come over. I’d encourage you to out and get yourself a matching lounge set or a pretty pair of pjs and see how much better you feel. Trust me. Mood lifter.
