About the Fab Forties

The Fab Forties is a group of style bloggers from around the globe who come together once a month to share their common love of fashion. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger, who is also in her forties, to join us. The group’s goal is to take on a style trend and show how we each interpret and incorporate it into our lives. Five different ladies, five different styles, you’re sure to find something that inspires you.

The Theme

This month’s theme is New York Fashion Week and was selected by Ada. New York Fashion Week is a week long event for international fashion designers to show their to buyers, the press, and the public. Although I like clothes and all things fashion related, I’m not a big follower of events like NYFW, nor do I know who the latest designers are… So, I said all of that to say, this was a challenge for me. I feel like I say that with every challenge. But that’s the point, right?

My Look

Faux leather and suede are two of my favorite fabrics because pieces in this fabric can go edgy or subdued, bohemian or classic. So I knew I was going to wear this skirt {especially since I’ve finally lost enough weight to get back into it *praise hands*}, I just wasn’t sure what I was going to wear with it. Usually, when I wear this skirt, I pair it with a cardigan or a polka dot sweater, but I wanted to do something different.

Denim and faux leather always look good together, add in a statement tee, and you have a look. The one thing that was kinda tripping me though was my footwear. I’ve never worn sneakers with a dress or skirt, but I thought it’d be appropriate this go around.
