Fab Forties: Wooden Necklace and a Funky New Haircut

As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. ABOUT THE FAB FORTIES

The Fab Forties is a group of five style bloggers from around the globe who come together once a month to share their common love of fashion. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger, who is also in her forties, to join us. The group’s goal is to take on a style trend and show how we each interpret and incorporate it into our lives. Six different ladies, six different styles, you’re sure to find something that inspires you.

The Theme

This month’s theme, necklaces, was chosen by Suzy from A Pixie Chick in Portugal.

My Outfit

Blue Top Necklace Boyfriend Jeans and Boots {living outside the stacks}

I can’t remember when or where I bought this necklace but, man, is it incredibly fun and funky. It came with a pair of earrings that I never wear with the necklace because I’m so not about that matchy-matchy life. Are you? Do you wear complete jewelry sets? Or do you break them apart?

AND A NEW HAIRCUT…

Shaved Side Haircut {living outside the stacks}

Ms. Jill: “Do you have a picture of what you have in mind?”

Me: “Yes, ma’am. I want it shaved with a partial undercut, like this…” side note: I’m totally digging her tattoo. I think I want to copy it.

Ms. Jill: “Does your husband know you’re doing this?”

Me: “No.” giggles

Ms. Jill: “Don’t tell him I did this.”

I am so loving Dee’s outfit. That necklace is fabulous – so much bling. And goodness knows I’m a fan of dresses/long tunics over cropped pants.

Jennie {A Pocketful of Polka Dots}

Jennie’s look has turned me into a real live heart-eyed emoji! The colors, the pattern, the coziness, everything is fabulous!!

Sheela {Sheela Writes}

Is there a such thing as boho glam? If not, then Sheela just created it. And, if so, she just redefined it. Wowzers!!

Shelbee {Shelbee on the Edge}

Shelbee {shelbee on the edge}

I love that Shelbee can take something so dainty and lady-like and make it edgy. I mean, come on, pearls and distressed jeans with fishnets! Yes, please!

Suzy {Pixie Chick in Portugal}

Suzy is like the queen of casual cool. That mesh necklace is stun-ning. And pairing it with a tuxedo jacket and sneakers is pure genius.
