I’ve decided to host a book club on my Facebook page! I know, right? I’ve been thinking about it for a while now and I kinda just threw the idea out there and got a great response. I love the idea of doing something informal, relaxed, and fun. I like to read but once I’m done, I’m left with this overwhelming feeling of that’s it? I want more, I want to talk about why I did or didn’t like the book. I want to know if other people are as affected by the characters as I am.
Anyway, I don’t have any real rules yet. You know, the ideas are still percolating but I do have a rough outline of what I’m thinking…
Right now, I’m keeping track of potential books on Pinterest, you can click here to check out my board. If you have suggestions or if you’d like to add books to the Pinterest board, leave a comment below and let me know. As far as the types of books I’d like to read, I’m open to just about anything: fiction, nonfiction, biography, etc. Just know that I don’t read any of the following types of books:
- Erotica
- Horror
- New Age
- Paranormal
Therefore, those genres won’t be included on the reading list.
I think for the first read, I’ll pick the book using Random Generator. You know, count how many books are posted to the Pinterest board and then whatever number comes up in the generator that’s what we’ll read. I’m all about the random, ya know? And as we read the books, I’ll move them over to another board so that we can keep track of what has been read. Sound fair?
As far as the discussion and reading schedule goes, I think we’ll aim for one book every two or three months, with discussions running from the beginning through the end of each cycle. I’ll start the discussion and then we can just respond and share any time. I really want to keep things informal, no pressure. Read when you can, ask questions, respond to questions at will.
