Ladies, It’s Time to Choose You

I am a Thyroid Cancer survivor.  My mother~in~law is a Breast Cancer survivor.  Her neighbor is also a Breast Cancer survivor.  We are statistics.  Did you know that one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime?  That’s an overwhelming number, especially when you think about all the women you know ~ your mother, sister, neighbor, etc.  That is why Ellen Pompeo and the American Cancer Society have partnered to encourage women to take care of themselves and make their health a priority through Choose You.

Why is the cancer diagnosis for women so high?  Because women, especially mothers, tend to put themselves on the back burner.  They spend all of their time making sure that everyone else is happy and healthy, often times to their own detriment.  Women need to start taking care of themselves by eating right, exercising, getting regular check ups, losing weight and reducing stress.

There are a number of online resources for helping you get healthy and focus on finding balance as a woman, wife and mother:

Mamavation ~ sistahood of women, created by Leah Segedie, who encourage each other using social media to get healthy, exercise and lose weight

Create a Balance ~ Stacey Hoffer helps women to find balance within their lives so that they can create a happy and healthy home

Remember, it’s not selfish to put your self first ~ if you’re not healthy, you can’t take care of your family and they need you!
