Makeup Free Monday Mingle: Artists, Shower Heads and Summer Fun

Makeup Free Monday 6 June 2011Makeup Free Monday is hosted by The Beauty Bean as an initiative for women to celebrate real beauty.  I love makeup almost as much as I love shoes but I also like encouraging women to embrace their natural beauty.  Confidence is beautiful, makeup is the enhancer.

If you decide to participate in Makeup Free Monday let me know in the comments.

Monday MingleMonday Mingle is hosted by Jenn at Eighty MPH Mom. If you’d like to participate, simply create a short vlog in which you answer the questions and then hit up the linky. Don’t forget to grab the badge and leave some comment love for your fellow participants. After all, isn’t that what mingling is all about?

This week’s questions are:
1. What is your favorite piece of art (famous or not) or artist?

Right now, I’m loving the work of my son, Mr. 15.  He made the boxes in wood shop and, proud momma that I am, I think they’re incredible.  He hasn’t finished the big one yet (needs to be sanded and stained) but they’re on display in my living room.

Two of my favorite famous artists are Ernie Barnes and Henry Ossawa Tanner.  Ernie Barnes provided the artwork for the TV show “Good Times”.  Barnes was the first artist of color whose work I ever saw presented in popular culture.  Until “Good Times”, I didn’t know there were African American artists.  And Henry Ossawa Tanner was the first African American artist to receive international acclaim.  His painting style influenced later artists who used similar illumination techniques in their paintings.

2. Which do you prefer ~ baths or showers?

I prefer baths but I don’t get to take them very often.  Since the bathroom in the master bath only has a shower, the hubs and I have been fortunate enough to have the best shower head.  Ever.  It’s the Waterpik Easy Select Showerhead.  Seriously, give it a try.

3. What is one thing on your summer to do list that you are looking forward to?

Hopefully, this summer I’ll get to see my sister who lives in Tennessee.  I haven’t seen her or my nephews in a couple of years and now she has an 8~month~old that I’m dying to get my hands on!

Next week’s questions are:
1. How long can you go without getting mail in the mailbox (not your email inbox)?
2. Snail mail or email?  How do you conduct most of you business correspondence?
3. Do you still send cards or letters?  What was the last card or letter you sent and to whom?
