I feel like I’m starting this weight loss journey from the beginning… This is not a good place to be considering how much progress I had made since I first started this lifestyle change in January. I’m on medication right now that is affecting my weight, so the numbers are steadily going up while my energy levels are going down. I know this is just a temporary set back so I’m trying not to get too upset about it but it’s difficult watching all of my progress disappear over night.
I will go into this week with the simple goal of not really trying to lose weight but simply trying to be active. The good thing about knowing where I’ve been and where I can go is that I know what works for me. I will continue going to the gym and walking a minimum of 3 miles on the treadmill. I will also add weight training to my routine. A few weeks back, during one of our Mamavation Monday chats, we talked to Amy Dixon and she talked about how important it is to mix things up with some weight training ~ not to bulk up but to shape up and enhance weight loss. I just received Give Me Ten, her new exercise DVD, so I can’t wait to give that a try.
I’ve also slacked off on my water and fruit and veggie consumption, so I’m gonna have to adjust that too. My goal will be 80 oz of water per day and a minimum of 7 servings of fruits and/or veggies per day.
As I’ve started transitioning from a sedentary to an active lifestyle, I’ve also started to consider the importance of what I put on my feet ~ those things carry a lot of weight over the course of a day (and over the course of a lifetime), so supportive footwear is vital. Now, I have to admit I am not a running shoes kinda chick so unless I’m working out, they simply aren’t an option for me. However, I do love myself some comfy cozy slippers! So I proudly wear my Earth Footwear slippers around the house, that way I’m toning my calves, thighs and butt even when I’m not working out. Earth Footwear will be celebrating their 40th anniversary on Thursday, 22 April (which also happens to be Earth Day) and to help celebrate they are giving away free pairs of Earth Footwear shoes through Mamavation.
