My 5K Christian Music Playlist {Living Outside the Stacks}

We’ve entered Week 4 of Run for God! And I’m so proud of the group of people I’m training with. You should see them out there in the rain, y’all running with focus and determination! They’re the embodiment of Hebrews 12:1, which states:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

There’ve been so many times when I’ve looked out my window and thought Surely, we are not going to run in this and then I get to the church, listen to the words of encouragement from the speaker, and think I will run in this. Really, the easy part is running when the weather is nice and the birds are chirping {from a distance}, and all is right with the world. The hard part is going out there when you want to put on your snuggies, sit with a cup of coffee, and veg out in front of the TV.

That’s how faith is. It’s easy to believe God when things are good and the sun is shining on us, but what about when things are bad? When that dark rain cloud is hovering above our head? That’s when we need to cast off doubt and fear… That’s when we truly exercise our faith in God.

For a few weeks, I’ve been trying to find playlists with Christian themed music that I could listen to while I run, but, man, it’s been hard. So, a couple of days ago, Miss 17 said I should create my own list. I was worried because I don’t know all about beats per minute and how to set pace by music so I run a 7 minute mile (which I’ve never done), so I totally relied on what sounds good to me and will keep my feet hitting the pavement.

If you’re looking for some good running music, feel free to follow my playlist: Run 5K. If you know of some songs I should add, leave it in the comments.

And remember, you can cheer Miss 17 and me on as we prepare for her first and my fourth 5K by following #TeamLOTS on Instagram.

What song gets your feet moving? It doesn’t have to be Christian, I just want to know what keeps you motivated.
