Like many people in areas where the elected officials care about their constituents, we’re under Stay At Home Orders. And I’ve been trying to figure out how I can remember this time. I mean, we know it won’t last always. Right? Then it dawned on me: USE YOUR CAMERA. Yes, really, that was not my first thought. I think there was a disconnect because I don’t have kids at home. So, yeah, Daenel, that means that you have to get creative with your photography. It isn’t just people with kids who shoot, ya know?
Anyway, I decided to start documenting life from my front porch. Not that there’s a lot going on because, well, quarantine. They won’t all be pictures of me. I plan to capture quarantine life, whatever that may be. This will serve as a memory keeper, a photographic diary, if you will. I’ll also use this as an opportunity to hone my photography skills and practice using the different lenses in my bag.
I’ll share on Instagram with a short caption and save my “deep thoughts” for here. I’d love it if you’d join me. You don’t have to shoot every day like I plan to do, but I’d love to see whatever you capture.

My cousin wrote on Twitter:
Tell your family & friends how much you love & care about them. Get to know those you don’t see every day. It’s so easy to forget about the distant relatives until it’s too late.
Her words resonated with me. I mean, my family has never been particularly close {my sisters and I grew up overseas, so we didn’t get to know our extended family until we were adults}, still my cousins and I have tried to grow and develop relationships with each other over the years. We’ve attended each other’s weddings, cheered each other on across social media, and been a shoulder in times of need. We’ve also laughed and joked, and probably told each other things that we never would’ve said face-to-face. I’m thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to get to know them, and I look forward to seeing them at the family reunion we’re planning when this is all over.

2|30. Today I’m grateful for bright colors and comfy jeans and the sound of children laughing from my neighbor’s window.
I keep reading all over social media that people are upset that the libraries are closed. The libraries are not closed. The physical buildings are, but there are lots of librarians working at home to ensure that resources are available. We’re also trying to make sure that those who do not have internet access are able to connect. If you live in Louisiana, here’s a listing of libraries that are providing WiFi access from their parking lots. We understand the digital divide and are sympathetic to those who don’t have internet access, computers, or what have you, BUT we also value our health as well as that of those in our communities.

How do you plan to stay connected this weekend? Have you found a binge-worthy show? I just finished watching The Stranger and I have but one regret: I cannot get that time back. It was the most awful, convoluted, full of way too many side story series that I’ve ever watched.
