Plum Deluxe Tea Review {living outside the stacks}

We all lead very busy lives, even us empty nesters. But one thing I’m trying to learn to do is take each day one day at a time. More and more, that one day at a time means settling down with a hot cup of tea, The Hubs, and the remote control. I’ve found the ritual of making tea from loose leaves to be relaxing. You know, the measuring and finding the right balance of flavors, the beauty of the dried leaves and fruits, the aroma wafting through the air, the steeping in hot water, and, finally, the swirling of the delicate flavors across my tongue… It’s all very soothing to my OCD soul.

So when I was offered the chance to try a new tea, I did a little research on the company {because what kind of librarian would I be if I didn’t do a bit of research?} and then said “yes.”

Plum Deluxe is more than a specialty tea company. They’re a lifestyle company. Besides offering teas, Plum Deluxe provides customers with access to blog posts and podcasts, as well as weekly newsletters dedicated to helping their customers make each moment matter. What drew me to the company was Andy’s backstory. Andy founded Plum Deluxe in honor of his mother who passed away from Breast Cancer. As a Thyroid Cancer survivor and a relative and friend of several women who’ve battled Breast Cancer, I know how important it is to take time to connect with the ones you love and to create memories on a daily basis. So, yes, this company definitely spoke to me.

I also liked the company’s focus on sustainability. All of their teas are organic, non-GMO, fair trade, and hand blended just for you. If you’re not sure what type of tea would be best for you, you can make a one~ time purchase or, if you’re the adventurous type, you can become a member of the Tea Club.

I perused the Plum Deluxe site, read the descriptions of the various teas {they even have teas geared towards coffee lovers like myself}, and settled on the one I thought best fit my taste.

Reading Nook Blend

“A blend of joy. Pairs with creativity, reading & writing, conversation, relaxing”

I selected the Reading Nook Blend because, well, librarian. And ~ oh my word ~ y’all, even if you’re not a tea drinker, you have to buy this just for the smell. It’s beyond divine. Even The Hubs inhaled deeply when I opened the packet. The Reading Nook Blend is a gorgeous blend of “black tea, rosebuds, lavender, chamomile, love, gratitude, and natural flavors”. It also has caffeine {because y’all know I’m always in need of a pick me up}. Just look at the picture, isn’t it beautiful?

I brewed the tea as directed and was instantly in love. The flavor is mild, perfect for curling up at the end of a hard day with a good book. Or my favorite TV show: I really need to know who didn’t survive on The Walking Dead.
