I’m a busy married mother of four who is always on the lookout for quick and easy meals that my family will love, so when I was offered the chance to try Tuna Creations by StarKist, I jumped. I mean, really, who wouldn’t want to try something new and different (my family and I are always joking that someone needs to invent a new animal ’cause we’re tired of pig, cow and chicken). Well, this comes pretty darned close to a new animal ~ tuna marinated in a zesty sauce!

When I went to the store to select my Tuna Creations flavors, I was torn between the Lemon Pepper Tuna and the Sweet and Spicy Tuna…. There were four other flavors but I didn’t want to shock my family with something too exotict (I mean, if it were just me I would have tried the Mango Chipotle Salmon but I have to consider those other people). I ended up selecting the Sweet and Spicy Tuna. How many different ways can I say “Yummy”?
So what makes Tuna Creations so special? Well, the tuna comes in a Flavor Fresh Pouch that does not require draining. Yay, no holding a fork across the can to drain the water while praying you don’t dump half the tuna in the sink! Furthermore it’s marinating in the pouch so the flavor is very intense without being overwhelming (I even mixed my Tuna Creations with regular tuna to make more and I never lost any of the flavor). And it’s low in fat and high in protein and Omega~3’s.
I followed the directions on the back of the package for Sweet and Spicy Vegetable Stir-Fry for tonight’s dinner. My family loved it. The package also suggests the tuna would make a good filling for wraps too (I think we’ll try that next).
I think my biggest complaint would be that I have to triple the packaging to feed my family of 6 (it would be really nice if companies realized that some families are larger than 2 or 4 people) but that’s just a small thing on my part. Other than that, Tuna Creations is a pretty quick, easy and tasty meal.
If you decide to give it a try, let me know which flavor you liked (Tuna Creations comes in Herb & Garlic, Hickory Smoked Tuna, Sweet & Spicy Tuna, Lemon Pepper Tuna, Tomato Pesto Albacore Tuna and Mango Chipotle Salmon). I’d also like to know how you used the tuna, I’m always looking for new recipes.
