This year I’m participating in three different photography challenges. I know, I know. I do this every year and by the middle of February I tap out. Well, this year is different. These are 52 week projects, so I’m only obligated to take 3 photos a week instead of 1 photo a day. You see, the problem with 1 photo a day is there’s a lot of pressure. And that pressure can be overwhelming, especially when you want to make sure that the photos you post are decent.

With these projects, I’m easing the pressure and focusing less on perfection and more on picking up my camera {last year, I went months without shooting anything} and being creative. I also want to do a better of job of documenting my life. Looking back, that’s probably one of my biggest regrets: I didn’t take enough pictures of my kids when they were little and I didn’t take enough pictures of The Hubs and me through the years. I want to change that.

So here they are: pictures from the challenges and the memories attached…

Connection

Week 16 Connection {living outside the stacks}

A few weeks ago, I bought an ebook written by Shannon O’Malley called You Self: A Meaningful Guide to Self-Portraits. Shannon is an incredibly talented photographer {you can check out her work at Shannon Kathleen Photography} who takes the most incredible self portraits {check them out on Instagram}. Anyway, the purpose of the book is teach women/photographers how to feel comfortable in front of the camera and encourage us to see past the negatives that fill our heads. Something that many folks don’t know about me is that I’m incredibly uncomfortable in front of the camera. I see the rolls, the shadows, the lines, the everything… This was one of my first attempts at following Shannon’s advice.

Starts with “E”

Week 16 Starts with E {living outside the stacks}

The Hubs and I went to Macon, GA for the weekend and while we were there we visited the Hay House. This is the elaborate dining room. I’ll be sharing more photos from our trip later this week, so stay tuned.
