Project 52: My Life in Pictures 4 comments

This year I’m participating in three different photography challenges. I know, I know. I do this every year and by the middle of February I tap out. Well, this year is different. These are 52 week projects, so I’m only obligated to take 3 photos a week instead of 1 photo a day. You see, the problem with 1 photo a day is there’s a lot of pressure. And that pressure can be overwhelming, especially when you want to make sure that the photos you post are decent.

With these projects, I’m easing the pressure and focusing less on perfection and more on picking up my camera {last year, I went months without shooting anything} and being creative. I also want to do a better of job of documenting my life. Looking back, that’s probably one of my biggest regrets: I didn’t take enough pictures of my kids when they were little and I didn’t take enough pictures of The Hubs and me through the years. I want to change that…

Last year, my husband’s ex~wife passed away from cancer and my mom was diagnosed with a chronic illness both of those events┬ámade me so much more aware of the need to celebrate life and document it.

So here they are: pictures from the challenges and the memories attached…

This is a new style for me. I think it works better if you use stealth photography… I set up the camera and let it snap while I wandered around so that he’d be less aware of me. I also need to work on my black and white photography.

I’m starting 2017 with another photography challenge. I don’t do well with these because lazy. This is once a week. I can do this.

Week 1 Times They Are A Changin {living outside the stacks}

Last year was a hard year for my family but we came through smiling hard and loving harder. This year, we are determined to count it all joy and celebrate each blessing.

If you’re on Instagram, you can see photos from other participants by checking out the following hashtags:

Or you can give me a follow at DaenelT and see the world through my eyes…

What are you doing this year to move out of your comfort zone? How can I cheer you on?

Happy Snapping,

  • I feel off last year with snapping pics to document our lives, but next month I’m picking back up with 365 project. As I get older, I keep thinking about the memories I want to leave behind for my children and future generations to look back on. This will serve as my motivation to capture moments from our everyday lives in photos as well as in videos and words sometimes.

    • Good luck with your 365! I’ve tried to complete those but get lost along the way. I think part of the reason is that I don’t have a lot of variation in my days… I wish that I’d known about this when my kids were little {or that I’d thought of it LOL}. I agree, the photos are definitely a nice legacy to leave behind for your little people and their little people.

      By the way, are you still blogging? I don’t see your posts in my feed anymore.

      • Still blogging. I switched from Blogger to WordPress and had to get Bloglovin to reactivate my feed: http://bit.ly/2j5rC5V.

        • Ahhhhh, OK. I was like, Dude, you just left with no goodbye, no nothing *pouty kid whiny voice* Fixing my feed now….
