Christmas Nativity

  1. Is your church putting on a Christmas pageant this year? I remember when I was little, the pageant was the highlight of the Christmas season for me. I always begged to play Mary and, one year, they let me. The little Nativity set above reminds me of our church pageants with all the kids decked in bathrobes to portray wise men or shepherds, girls clothed in white sheets with glittery wings and, of course, the requisite kid with cotton balls portraying the sheep. Those were good times.
  2. I heard that Alabama has passed an ethics law limits the amount of money students can spend on teacher gifts. Or, at least, that’s how it’s being portrayed in the media, in truth the ethics law is directed at all public employees and I don’t have a problem with this. Violating the law could result in a year in jail and a $6000 fine. The law is really to keep your law makers honest but I think there should be a limit on how much parents spend on gifts for teachers. I’ve personally seen teachers receive items from Coach, gift cards in the hundreds of dollars, etc. My question is why are people tipping teachers for doing their jobs? Do you tip your doctor? How about the cashiers at the various stores you shop at all year long?
  3. Miss 18 is back from college for Christmas break ~ it’s crazy how the addition of one person can change the vibe around here. Yesterday, the kids were so loud and crazy that I had to channel my inner librarian and shush ’em. But it was really cool to hear and see everyone talking and laughing.
  4. Tonight I’m attending an office Christmas Party with the hubs and I’m totally at a loss for what to wear. I don’t know if everyone dresses up or if they go casual. I’m thinking about wearing a sweater dress, boots and lots of jewelry. You can never go wrong with a ton of glitzy accessories, right?

What about you, do you have anything planned for the weekend?
