Product Review: Clark’s Bendables

When I was a little girl, my uncle bought me a pair of Clark’s shoes. To say I loved these shoes would be putting it mildly. They were black suede loafers with a slight heel (maybe an inch and a half or so). I remember feeling so sophisticated and grown up when I wore those shoes. So when I saw these Clark’s Bendables Suede Water Resistant Lace-Up Shooties being advertised as the Today’s Special Value on QVC, I was beyond thrilled!

I ordered the Clark’s Bendables on 9 September for $45.42 plus shipping and handling and they arrived about a week later. When they first arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the color. I had chosen burgundy (the other choices were black, brown, grey and navy) but the color is more like a deep plum. I’m a purple lover so this color variance doesn’t bother me much. The suede is incredibly soft but sturdy (something every mom needs) and it has that nice leather smell that we all love in our leather products. The shoes also sport a comfortable 2 and 3/4th inch rubber heel (high enough to look fashionable, but low enough to chase down a kid). Because they’re lace ups, they can be loosened and tightened as needed (we all know how our feet tend to swell during the day). They are also pretty well padded on the inside and offer a system of flex grooves that make the shoes ultra-flexible and incredibly comfortable. Most importantly, getting caught in the rain does not have to cause shoe distress! The shoes are water resistant, meaning they can get wet without getting ruined.
I’ve had the shoes for about a month now and I find them to be incredibly comfortable and very versatile. Because they’re shooties, they can be worn with jeans, slacks and skirts. The funkier colors lend themselves well to a bohemian wardrobe while the classic colors pair nicely with more traditional styles. I ordered a half size up and can wear the shoes fairly comfortably with tights and thin to medium weight socks. In order to wear them with winter socks, I would have to order the shoes a full size up. If you decide to purchase them, keep in mind that they are narrow in the toe box so you may want to order the wide widths to let your toes spread.
These shoes are exclusive to QVC until 25 July 2010.
