I can’t remember when or where I bought the shoes but I can remember when I bought the bag…
I had just graduated from Drexel University and, with shiny degree in hand, was preparing to get my first full~time position as a librarian at a local college. For the interview, I wanted a stylish briefcase and a cute suit. Conventional wisdom said to go with one of the safe colors like brown, black or navy leather case but, um, that’s so not me. I didn’t choose a “safe” black suit either. Anyway, I happened to be watching TV when this beautiful briefcase came on the air, it was a Dooney and Bourke bag, in all the safe colors, and grass green… I knew I had to have it, so I picked up the phone, dialed the 1~800 number and a week later I was carrying my beautiful green bag to my first interview for my first full~time job as a librarian.
I still carry my briefcase for important meetings and every now and then I carry it when I’m wearing my funky “stone” encrusted sandals.
