Style Imitating Art Invitation {living outside the stacks}

WHAT IS STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art is a fun style challenge hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Jen {Librarian for Life and Style}, and me. Each week, one of us curates a piece of art that we all use to an inspire our outfits.

Next week’s Style Imitating Art inspiration piece is posted below along with directions for how to participate.

INSPIRATION ART WORK

18th Century Spanish Textile from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Open Access Collection

18th Century Spanish Textile {The image is from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Open Access Collection}

You can read more about the textile here.
I chose this 18th century Spanish textile fragment for a couple of reasons:
  1. It’s summer and the flowers are so pretty
  2. I think I can find something between the clothes in my car and the ones in the RV
I also think the pattern is feminine without being too girly… The black lines make the image a little “tougher.” Anyway, I love the varying shades of peach, gold, green, and blue. The blacks and browns ground the soft colors.

TO PARTICIPATE

Everyone’s invited to participate! Send a picture of your Style Imitating Art inspired outfit to me at livingoutsidethestacks@gmail.com by Tuesday, 3 July. I’ll share the submissions on my blog on Wednesday, 4 July.

You don’t have to be a blogger, a photographer, or an instagrammer to join! You just have to love clothes.

Hope you’ll join the fun!
