ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. And that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

THE CURATOR

This week’s image was chosen by by Kim of Fierce Fashion Blog.

INSPIRATION ART WORK

Redon, O. (1970, January 01). Bouquet of Wild Flowers, c.1900 – Odilon Redon.

Kim chose this inspiration piece because of “…the bold colors and “just picked” look of the bouquet.  Plus, the coloring gives us lots of fall options.” Not only can you use the colors for inspiration, but there are plenty of textural options as well. And don’t forget about Autumnal patterns like plaid and floral.

MY OUTFIT

My sister texted me on Saturday with the following message: “What are you doing?”

I texted her back: “Same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world.”

My sister and I routinely talk to each other in TV. Our kids think we’re weird. We think we’re funny. Do you and your siblings have a weird way of communicating?

I decided to wear this after changing clothes half a million times on Saturday. The problem was I couldn’t decide whether I was hot or cold. Inside, my house was freezing {no, the AC wasn’t on}, but it was warm outside. What gives? So, I decided to put on this lightweight 3/4 sleeve sweater and call it a day. And jeans are always appropriate. I wasn’t warm but I was comfortable enough. And the colors fit the theme…

I know I have a hard time regulating my temperature but I hope this isn’t a harbinger of things to come because I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with the extreme temperature changes.

Feel free to shop my look:

Earrings – Nickel and Suede

Sweater – Similar

Jeans – Laurie Felt
