Hey, y’all, hey. Happy Birthday Eve to me! I’m gonna be 47 tomorrow. *screams* Not that I’m afraid of getting older, quite the contrary. I just thought that I’d be, I don’t know, different by now. The funny thing is, I’m not even sure what I mean by different. Wiser. More focused. A bit together. I’m none of those things. *Kanye shrug* I don’t see me changing anytime soon.
ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. And that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

Kim selected this vintage poster “…In the spirit of ‘spring cleaning.'” I think it’s a super fun poster, don’t you?
STYLING IDEAS
The colors, y’all! Oranges and mustards and blues and greens and creams. And its that red I see? Oh and bits of black and gray too. So many fun options. You can go with color block, solid column of color, or even some funky mod inspired prints. I cannot wait to see what you wear!
MY OUTFIT
I decided to wear this sweet little polka dot print mustard dress from Old Navy {it’s a favorite that I don’t wear nearly enough, but it has been on the blog before, you can see it here}. I thought the polka dots added a bit of whimsy while the color of the dress, my boots, and cardi mimicked the outline in the poster.
The purple earrings are just a fun little touch of the unexpected.
The other day, I was wearing a purple top and a these shoes, when my co-worker giggled a bit and said: “Only Miss Dani. Look at this, nothing matches but it just goes!” Then my other co-worker said “Yeah, I try to do that non-matching thing and I just can’t. But I know Miss Dani would wear it.”
Ha! Yeah, I keep trying to tell them that it’s all about having fun with your clothes. Things don’t have to match, they just have to go together. And, if you see colors together in nature, why can’t you wear them on your body. Same with prints… Just find coordinating colors in the prints and you’re all set.
