ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Gray}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfit. My main tip for participating is not to just look at the colors but look at the textures, think about complimentary colors, etc. In other words, you don’t have to be literal in your interpretation. It’s all about looking at the items in your closet in new and creative ways — mixing colors and patterns and just having fun.

THE CURATOR

This week’s image is hosted by Kim from Fierce Fashion Blog. Kim is a fifty something style blogger with an eye for color and texture. Please join us in welcoming her.

INSPIRATION ART WORK

Kim chose this image in honor of the fire at Notre Dame.

There are so much color and textural inspiration in this image. You can either go bold with your color or stick to neutral tones. Either way, there’s bound to be something in your closet for you to put together.

What do you think you’ll wear? I can’t wait to see.

MY LOOK

I’m not sure why, but whenever I think of Notre Dame, I think of fall. I think of warm colors, people in cozy sweaters, steaming cups of coffee… So that’s why I chose these colors for this week’s challenge. To me, it represents Notre Dame.

Little known Daenel trivia: when I was in high school, one of my art projects was to create a cardboard model of Notre Dame. I was an ambitious teen and I failed miserably in my endeavor, but I remember studying images in encyclopedias {am I aging myself} and books for my project. I wish I’d kept the finished product or, at least, taken pictures of it.
